MacBook

like they say, once you go mac you never go back :)

it was a bit hard for me to understand it in the beginning as i was too a PC girl for so long but once you get the hang of it is SO much easier (and faster imo)

Agreeeeed. I just got a MacBook Pro for college and absolutely love it. Now I can have all of my stuff on my personal computer. Plus, it's so pretty.

Ive got a mac air. Is it true that you cant get viruses on macs? Should i download anti virus software for it?

^I think the virus problem is more focused on windows as the security on the system has many doors to open... I dont think you are in such a risk to get a virus... in fact, if you are a bit smart computing user the possibilities are rare... even though virus exist why deny it...
Not having those problems with Linux that's for sure but Mac also is not as easy to get infected... never got one using mac... while using Windows right now that idea would be bit crazy...

Love mac books... my experience they tend to burn out a bit...but the rest is just absolutely good...also you can install Ubuntu- Linux if you want to...and works pretty cool
I want to get a pro though... (I just need the money haha)

Tax Question

So i'm from canada and im trying to figure out if the white macbook would be cheaper to buy in america. Its $999 on apple.com and when i converted it it was about $1062. I was wondering what kind of tax do you guys have in america, in Canda its 13%, so i'm trying to figure out how much $999 would be with tax in american money?

also if i did buy in america i coul still get the protection plan in canada?

Gonna have mine too, pretty soon i hope ... my bf is planning on buying a 17' MacBook so he'll give me his current one ...
;) !

About the virus ... Well I once heard that it was rare to have virus on mac because most people in the world own a PC so the people who build the virus mainly do it for PC ... but virus for Mac do exist ! so get an anti-virus anyway ... it's usefull !

I've got problems with my 13" pro :(
It keeps on freezing, it's so annoying.
I guess I must get in touch with someone from Apple.

what's wrong with your battery?
i'm quite satisfied with it. i can use my computer for hours now.

I'm considering buying a Macbook 13" - so tired of my 'big' PC.. I tried using my friend's one and it really was a lot easier than I had expected. Still not sure if I dare to abandon my PC laptop :p

I m sure u wont regret if u go for it.
I have a 13" MBpro since few weeks, it is my 4th apple laptop and i ve always bought the smallest screen available as i really travel a lot , a 15" is less cool to handle everywhere or in any bag.

These unibody macbook are for me clearly the best laptop Apple have ever produced. I m not a performance freak, so i can not really judge from that side, but the unibody construction gives clearly very strong feeling and a really clean design, I m pretty sure that in the coming months all PC brands will start to launch some kind of computers built in the same way, as i really think it is a big big plus in the way a laptop is puted together.

For people who has hesitation between a white and a unbiody, i come from a white, and really just for the way it is built, the MBpro really justify it is litlle price difference.

Does it just freeze for a few seconds to a minute here and there and show the rainbow circle thing? Mine has been doing that quite frequently and it's kind of annoying. Maybe I should get in touch with Apple as well. Does anyone here have any tips or suggestions?

Which one would you recommend (im lucky im eligible for a rebate B)) ?

MacBook Pro

From £845.25
Students save up to £148

OR

MacBook

Just £703.80
Students save up to £45

If you're going to use it as a student, only writing essays and stuff like that take a MacBook [it's much much cheaper and not much worse], if you're planning to use it in some other ways: graphics, web design etc. - take a Pro :)
Or if you're rich and fancy an awesome computer get a Pro B)

I was in the same dilemma. After talking to a couple of people including a friend who works for Apple, i decided to get the 13 pro. its a much better design and faster. spend the money on the pro its soooo much better in sooo many ways. plus it will last you longer.

That's exactly when mine happens too! Then I have to restart Firefox and blah blah. I haven't contacted Apple though.
