Madonna new face of H&M?

shes not really the sort of person i can imagine going into h&m to be honest

I don't think they have many H&Ms in Wiltshire. Shame, because H&M's petrol colourways would really bring out the blue in their blood... though they would clash awfully with all the foxes being hunted.

I don't see anything wrong with it. imo I don't buy a product just because a celeb is promoting it....that's so diluted. If Madonna is game to pose for H&M more power to her....

No one can stop Madonna.  So keep on with your silly insults if it makes you feel better.

I think it's a good idea  It would make H&M even more popular if Madonna was the face of their new ad.

great. botox lady advertising clothes for people who are half of her age (and younger). i'm seriously going to buy every piece she advertises.. or not

Madonna the Fashion Designer??

FASHION BITES

RUMOUR has it that Madonna will not just pose for the ads for Viktor & Rolf's forthcoming collection for H&M, but she's planning to design her own line, too.

From Vogue.com

Has anyone else heard about this?

Regarding Madonna designing her own clothing line: this will probably be quite nice. I've always loved her personal style, especially her street wear, rather than the editorial spreads, concert costumes, etcetera. She's always dressed very funky and fresh: well-made, tailored, unique, bold statement pieces, as well as fetishy, personal amulet-like jewelry. She's always had something witchy about without being all-out goth, or Cher, or some other self-parody. I'd love to see her designs!

I can just picture a box of her old jewelry and clothing, all powerful with stories of travels, loves, and conquests. If she could interpret that personal vibe into her own line, so that the wearer imbues the clothes with their own stamp of magic time and place--well, that's the exact opposite of H&M, isnt' it?

Btw, the shoot for the ads will take place in LA this weekend, Rankin will be photographing and the other models in the campaign will be Madonna's tour dancers!

I don't get it: first we supposedly had Lindsay Lohan for Louis Vuitton (which didn't happen) now Madonna for H&M? Do these marketing people just toss names in a hat and pick one at random? Perhaps age doesn't matter, but you think advertisers would go after icons of the same peer group, thus the same age, as their customers. Or are younger women still Madonna wannabes, while the older ones desire to be 20 again? Strange.

Uhm, Excuse me for raining on your bitter parade but Madonna is still a widely popular singer all across the globe. The problem with a lot of celebs these days is that they are very local. I mean Paris Hilton is known all over the world but reaaaaally "popular" in the US, same goes for Lindsay Lohan. Of course she's famous, but not an icon (here in holland she's just another teen actor who needs to sing). Madonna has world wide appeal and is known for her style and fashion sense. She takes GREAT pics and is just performing her sold out world tour, performing songs from her #1 album in more then 40 countries COADF. In short, ...she has appeal, wide appeal!

And Madonna not being a fashion icon anymore? Gimme a break, Just because she used the leotard as a throwback to the 70's disco era doesn't mean everyone needs to show up in one in clubs etc. Meanwhile everyone is donning that Farrah Fawcett hairstyle again.

Madonna is as hot as ever, so a H&M campaign seems logical, especially for someone who is denouncing the relevance of fame, money and superficiality. Madonna has always been money conscious, or so she says and doesn't feel too good to do H&M...

Isn't she too old for H&M?
I think that too, they dont want the ads to look like shes trying to fit in to the "young and trendy" category, it would look like mutton dressesd as lamb, but ill wait to see the ads.

Madonna is so overrated. They'll have to airbrush out all her wrinkles in the ads:innocent:

That's all I'm saying, too. Like I'm too old for Gymboree. It's nothing personal, just demographics. I like Madonna's style, and I've attempted to shop at H&M twice, but feel ridiculous in most everything I tried on (I'm 33). Plus, much of it (not all of it) wasn't very well-sewn. If I feel too old for H&M at 33, what could Madonna do for it at 47?

Perhaps this is more H&M trying to broaden its appeal to a wider age range? Viktor & Rolf isn't exactly Juicy Couture, so perhaps H&M is offering something more tailored and grown-up?

Anyway, sew it up and get it to market before shipping and manufacturing costs grow even higher. See the "Will Cheap Chic Eat Itself?" thread for a good discussion on this.
