Makeup dont's that you do!

i curl my eyelashes AFTER i put mascara on and let it dry:innocent:  . i find that it works better and stays curled. of course i clean the curler right afterwards.

i do that too!

-Bright pink streaky 80's style blush with bronze contour under
-LOTS of black eyemakeup. I mean LOTS. I give 70's punk girls a run for their money. Oh and I'm asian, so that's even more of a no-no.
-I don't wash my brushes very often.. at all
-I don't wear mascara very much
-I have drawn on eyebrows
-I've used food coloring as a lip-stain

Hmm I think that's about all.

I have been known to wear a bit of blue eyeshadow in my time.

I have never curled my lashes, not even once.

I have plucked from the top of my brow (in the last week!).

I have gone to sleep without taking my makeup off ... but not in a long time.

I don't throw my makeup out when "they" say to.

I often don't line my eyes.

My eyebrow pencil is ash blonde even though I'm not.

I put up my wet hair in a hurry, totally kills your hair--bad bad bad!

I'm sometimes too lazy to wash my makeup off after a long night, then i wonder why I might be breaking out

I hesitate/procrastinate about throwing out old makeup, part of the reason why i buy makeup is to collect it

chanel recomend that the mascara i use should be replaced every 8 weeks but i dont
I plump the mscara wand in the tube
I've never worn lipstick (okay so im only 15 so maybe i should just stick to the gloss)

8 weeks, my Lord! The recommendation I've seen repeatedly is 6 months. I don't pump the wand & I don't add anything, I just replace it, and it seems to be just about 6 months when that happens. That time limit I do believe in.

As far as throwing eyeshadow out after a year ... no way. I have had highly frosted shadow start to irritate my eyes after years ... when this happens, I narrow it down & toss out the culprits. As it is, I have pretty much every shade of eyeshadow I could wish for, and I usually buy new ones just for a change of pace. But my collection would be pretty sad if I were throwing it all out every year. I don't think I've ever used up any eyeshadow that was any color other than ivory (which I use as a base).

Lipstick and lipgloss, of course, can go rancid, at which time out they go (but I've usually used them up before that can happen).

My foundation lasts 6-8 months or so and concealer about the same (it's custom blend and they seem to be pretty good at matching the amount of concealer to the amount of foundation so they run out at about the same time). Custom blend foundation is a bit pricey, but completely worth it IMO if your skin is hard to match.

I saw an article sometime not too long ago that debunked the year timeframe for pressed powder products ... in a magazine ... but if you could see all my magazines you'd understand why I can't remember which one :ninja: Could've been Real Simple maybe? Budget Living??? :innocent:

Well, I pluck from the top of my brows, too. It's almost forgiveable, right?

I layer on the mascara. I've been known to put on six or seven coats.

And sometimes, I go to bed with my make up on because I'm way to tired. Yeah, I should be shot for it.

Im terrible!!... I change the type of shampoo i use whenever the bottle runs out rather that sticking to the same one!

That's actually a DO ;) Your hair stays cleaner and the shampoos perform better if you use different ones.

Well it was a necessity dammit, I don't care what Mom said! For some bizarre reason, for the first time in my life these little hairs have started growing at the tippy top of my L brow, and they stick straight up. I've been fighting with them for months, and finally I just plucked them over the course of a few days. I feel so much better now B)

yeah i agree, my skin also gets better if i do that, the thing is that i live with 3 roommates so i don't wanna be au natural in front of them all day, i have too low self esteem for that, otherwise your advice is really good.

You also don't know when you might be going back out, or who might be coming by :innocent: ;)

i don't throw away my mascara every 2 months.. it's more like every 4 months or so..... :p

I use blush on the highest part of my cheakbones, which isn't really the aplles of the cheaks... I also use a little bit of bronzer underneath my cheakbones and on the sides of my nose to make it look slimmer. It's very subtle and natural looking though, I swear I dont look like a clown.. :p

This isn't so much of a "dont", but I never wear anything on my lips, I jus dont thinkit works for me.

I curl my eyelashes before and after mascara.

Thats all I can think of now but I know theres more

well if i have a blemish i will cover it with way too much foundation which makes it look worse cause you can see an orange spot on my face:blush:

I sometimes wonder why none of my male colleagues have ever commented on this????? mabye they just pretend its not there or they never clearly look at someone, i don't know..........:innocent:

i do that.. thought this was a real 'must do'

*i only throw make up products away when they dont work they way they are supposed to do..
*i mainly sleep with mascara on, like 95%
*sometimes i refresh my lipstick (matte) before i go to bed
*mainly wear blushers as eyeshadows (playing with a range of araound ten blush shades at the moment) sometimes i mix them with powder for a 'custom made' tone.
*i dont use foundation or powder
*i dont curl or cut lashes

and does it really work? Never heard of that...
Yeah it works more or less, prob as good as any stain but I've never really tried stains. It lasts about all day I think, but if you're not careful it can be blotchy. Make sure your lips are not chapped at all and SUPER moisturized and smooth before you put it on or it'll settle into the cracks. But don't have more than a tiny bit of chapstick on your lips before you put it on or it might just slide off. Then blot, repeat if needed. Then after it dries a little you can add more gloss if you want.
