5 pages in two hours? Damn. Lemme catch up.
that's what i thought. . but i just made it!. B)

...i quite like the so-called story for the entire collection and the sense it makes when you look at the set, but i'm not very impressed by it either, and the clothes just seem like a bad mix of ideas.
the headwear looks like fun, i should admit. and i like the use of flowers that softgrey talks about.

I like the slightly 1920's feel, but I just can't get over how much I hate, hate, hate the metallics.

I actually love the head things and the 20s feel, but like most people here I think the metallics have been way overdone.

wow! this is one interesting collection.....i hate half and love half....the metalics and that silver trench are :yuk: and those bags with the jewels just look uber tacky.....but i LOVE the floral stuff, color palette and those cream jackets are TDF! it's like a skinny lil' flapper girl went through her mums closet and washed her chanel suit and tried on her costume jewlery and went out.....i really love the washed chanelish vibe.........

and as far as that green striped ballon sleeve tunic dress thing goes....i just wonder how many stam bags winona ryder could stash in one of those sleeves and walk out unnoticed....hehehe

am i the only one that sees anna piaggi in this, especially vlada. i LOVE it so much, marc has struck a chord with me since the last collection. This is brilliant, definetely one of the best shows ever and in new york, who would have guessed. Its as if the girls are desert misfits and some used the sails of boats as dresses and the nets as under dressing. Brilliant. Alot of wit, humor and functional, beautiful, original clothes. Marc is God...of fashion...

Have to see more at the oent i don't like it.. it's all a bit cheap looking, the mettalic trench is just wrong!

I like the crisp white shirt though.. have to see more.

I definitely caught that as well, more so than the other themes mentioned.

I've read someone said something like "if it wasn't Marc Jacobs, you wouldn't like it!"...perhaps. But so far it's one of the most interesting collections I've seen (I didn't check everything) but it's true some pieces are very !!

I hate everything on girls' head (caps etc.) and I'm not really into "metalic" stuff (but i'm pretty sure this silver trench coat will come in other colours) but I pretty like this little gold/bronze blouson in #24 and the silhouette that comes with.the fabrics look very weird for instance on Sasha in #34, it looks like plastic to me! and in #31 , the short trousers looks like cut into a "bache" (you know the stuff you can recover everything with that looks very cheap and makes me vomit)
But I love a lot of pieces. For instance : Karen Elson dress:heart:, the very Helmut Lang dress on this asian girl (I don't know her!), what Lily D. wears seems pretty interesting (except the "moustiquaire" under!)
I'm waiting to see everything but it's cool, some stuff look very "20s garçonnes" like the XXL trousers!...some trousers look very "archeologic-safari-desert trip"

This collection isn't even worth being called a "collection". The bags look so budget and the shirts look like trash sacks. The outfit on Karen looks like a pair of testicles and the shoes are as ugly as you can get. The only thing that entertained me was the girl who broke her shoe or whatever lol very funny.

Finally, Someones see how ugly this colletion is. I see the only thing selling is the bags and that's it. Other that everything looks like pure trash. I think if a new designer did this he wouldn't be living.

I always find comments like that tricky. I don't think Marc's ever taken a convential, Euro-centric view of beauty or luxury and his point of view, no matter where he himself is situated, is always American, it's always been confrontational and very much suited to personalities and, perhaps, people who are legends in their own mind. The clothes are very much an antidote to the usually sickeningly sweet display that NY fashion week likes to put on. I know many women who wear his clothes and it always looks softer edged off the runway. I'm proud to root for American talent that doesn't bow to red carpet glamour and doesn't feel that poking fun at European 'sophistication' is off limits.

well, it does look very trashy, and overkilled by layering..
but the bags will sell..

i've also noticed the Chanelisms (which is a bit off) and the Helmutlang-isms and the Chalayan-isms :)

the iridisent paillettes are a bit out of place and the headpieces are just making all this even more complicated.. not a fave for me , sorry

The styling is so Studio 54. I quite like some of it but am generally pleased. A lot more interesting that the rest and the atmosphere is just incredible. The runway is definately very Chanel.

Wow, six pages already! I'm not sure what to think of the collection, some of the pieces I like but I hate metallics. And those hats.. :innocent:

I loooove the runway though!

It like.... futuristic flapper :P
my thoughts exactly, garden parties seem to be big this season^_^

Anyway, so far I love the little caps and the bejeweled headpieces.

The one thing that seeem really off to me is that dress in post #20 made of what looks like sewn-toghether tanktops (wasn't that in the cruise collection too?). It looks just totally Preen.

I am happy to see that he's trying something else, but the overdone layering and those metallic stuffs are not my cup of tea.

Someone mentioned Anna Piagi above, I love Anna's way of styling and can always find inspirations from her looks. But not this Jacobs collection, he's definitely trying too hard and some outfits do look trashy imho.

The shoes :)
