Marc Jacobs S/S 07 NYC

The color palette & metallics immediately put me off enough to not look past page 2..Yawn..

I think it's wonderful! Everything from the soft clean colours, and drop waist dresses and all the beautiful ruffles. I really love the dress Jessica wore. Theres a lovely weightless delicate feel to alot of the pieces. I'm not too fond of the metallic in the collection, but that's about all i dislike.

I like the 20's vibe, and all the while and light colors. SOme of the peices are very unwearable, but some are really lovely.

I like some of the wedges, but the bags are just blech- I'm tired of metallics, and I think they look tired.

I wonder if 20's will be a spring theme? and the wedges will be I'm sure

I love the Helmut Lang-esque dress and the wht. Yohji-esque top with the ivory crop pants. As always, I am left pondering what he is trying to say with this. There is never any cohesion.

Cute, fun collection. Some cute bags...some ridiculous bags.

I hope metallic doesn't become a trend this season though.

it's not so much that it's "20's", it's just that the shapes are getting very loose....the waist is being cancelled out..
personally, i'd hate to call it a "20's" thing. i think it's more of a "slimmed down balenciaga" thing.

i really like the fingerless gloves and some of the headbands are cute... the layered dress and the coats arent bad their... that being said, there are some pieces i dont care for

To me, MJ is by far the most overrated designer on the face of the Earth. He consistently puts out hideous collections that everyone fawns over. Sorry, but I don't see it. this entire collection looks cheap and more than anything, unattractive.

The actual runway was the best part.

I like it a LOT better than F/W 06 but I'm still not really feeling it. I hate the white colors. I know it's S/S but the all white seems dull and unappealing. The beiges and off-white are slightly better but the metallics are horrible.

I'm all for outlandish plastic flowers and accessories but these seem cheap. I usually like MJ shoes but these bore me to death.

On a more postive note... I love the hats! I adore the purple croc handbag as well. The cuts of most of the jackets and tops are gorgeous.

not sure if this was posted already..but the full video is up already at marcjacobs.com

i cant believe agyness lost her shoe..and she was the one who opened it!!:o

I like this.
I am not usually a fan of MJ.

thanks rObotjOn32 for the incredibly vivid pictures!

I definitely see the 20's influence very strongly. (pastry, can you elaborate on what you said about balenciaga rather than the 20's...)
The headpieces really call it out, but the drop waists on the tops, jackets and dresses do too. AND the volume around the hips paired with delicate shoulders and ankles looks very flapper, as do the oversized gems. The surrealist vibe also says 20's to me, although I'm finding that harder to pin-point. Perhaps the runway has deceived me into seeing this as surrealist. Anyway, i think the set was stunning. The video is great.

I also really love this palette---washed blues and greens mixed with sand, flashes of metal, and oily irridescence. It makes me want to stare at the ocean.

On the minus side--I wish the models had been barefoot and without the bags, which were awful and out of place, imo. Most of them were walking like ducks, which did not fit with the serene, oceanic mood at all. And I don't see anything particularly coherent (as "a collection") here, although i'm not sure how important that is.

Last thing--this seems like the moment to confess that i love harem pants.
:ninja:

You know, I didn't get the cheap vibe at all ... and I had no issue with the metallics ;) The plastic flowers, after all, are a blown-up version of what Lanvin did for resort a year ago, and I heard no cries of "cheap" then :innocent: MJ is always tongue-in-cheek, nothing new there ...

The only "problem" I have with this is lack of wearability, and lack of cohesion (except for perhaps a "borrowing" theme ... also usual ... :innocent:) But I love the ethereal look of the unusual fabrics together with the makeup, which is very well done ... and of course I'm always a sucker for the 20s ^_^

:D:clap: I looked through the whole thread once and still really wasnt sure how I felt after reading some of your opinions. I looked back through again and I've just decided that i really dont care for the metallics..but everything else is soo gorgeous. The way its airy and whimsical and kind of ethereal with the gorgeous detailing and the little coats and jackets  I can see myself wearing alot and...not wearing a lot.
But can someone explain the set to me..?

this collection is definately full of "insert name of designer -isms." the gem heels remind me of chanel shoes from a couple seasons ago, some dresses balenciaga and some chloe, and these heels are similar to the bamboo prada ones, as far as shape goes.

if you dissect this collection, there will be a few good pieces. sort of the opposite of his fall collection- the pieces didn't look great when worn apart, where now the pieces look sloppy and amateur when worn together.
