another thing that didn't work at all was the music.

I just kept thinking of Jodie Foster , If anyone was in NYC in 1975 or 1976 , if you were driving through Manhattan at 2 am and rolled down your window , this is what you saw , runaway teenagers turned prostitutes dressed eerily like the girls in marc's show , a darker seedy NYC in the height of recession. The set looked like it was made to look a turning street too

Wow, I have been amazed by the staging, music and most of the proposals. Beautiful!

The collection mostly reminded me of some of the 1972-74 collections by Lagerfeld and YSL - worn by Pat Cleveland and Bianca Jagger etc. It's simply inspired by some of the best stuff of that era.
Absolutely. All I kept thinking off was "The Beautiful Fall", Yves and Karl at their best and all of the amazing women they were surrounded by.

TERRIBLE!
I think I've never seen such big amount of rubbish in one single collection

oh, totally!

I was afraid the collection would be a huge disaster, after seeing the backstage pics.. and the hair.. turns out my fears aren't unfounded. Although nuclear-reactor-like set was nice. At the moment, I just hope Marc does a better job at Louis Vuitton.

it's very boring to say 'oh this was inspired from this and that decade' but this collections looks and feels extremely 70s. it reminds me of ysl, biba and sonia rykiel all at the same time.

Saying anything else would be lying

Exactly the image that came to my mind...

From the Beautiful fall and Angelica Huston wearing YSL in 1972 photographed by Bob Richardson. Both scanned by me.

I definitely felt the Taxi Driver and even the "Beautiful Fall" influence in this collection. It is just exactly how I imagine a more stylish, glamorous, cleaner seventies NYC.

My Report:
Set: Richard Serra Sculpture meets Chanel Show
Music: Dramatic Vivaldi Orchestration
Hair: Christian Dior Spring 2005 (Big, Very Frizzy)
Main Color Palette: Red, Orange, Pink, Purple
Clothing Inspirations: The 1970's, Jodie Foster in "Taxi Driver", Emilio Pucci/Etro style prints, Bohemian at the Beach
Accessories: Large flowers worn on shirts and in the hair. Unique fabric flowers worn around necks.
Like or Dislike: Undecided. There were things that I loved, and there were some things that of course i didn't care for too much, but I think overall it was a very wearable collection. But in my opinion, nothing will beat last season or Fall 2009.

i didn't see the show. but i'm really liking it so far surprisingly!

Yeah, that's because prostitutes are about 3 years behind with the fashions....this collection is supposed to emulate 72-74, of course pros in 75-78 were bound to wear the clothes. The only reason to associate this so strongly with taxi driver is that it's the reference everyone knows.

I could not get into the Taxi Driver segment, but I did like some of the YSL boho and Bianca at 54 looks.

I thought it was really good. And the music was amazing. I have a soft spot for classical music!
