Art and Oscars combined for a random crowd at Prism Gallery for the opening of Clare Rojas' new exhibition, "Inside Bleak," on Saturday night.
Joining early birds such as Michael Stipe and Taryn Manning, Rosson Crow, Dasha Zhukova, Jeffrey Deitch, Stavros Niarchos, Alex von Furstenberg, Barry McGee, Danny Huston, Shala Monroque and Lady Victoria Hervey helped fill PC and Andy Valmorbida's spacious two-floor gallery on West Hollywood's Sunset Plaza.
New York was well-represented with the likes of socialite Fabiola Beracasa and actors-turned-fashion designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Rachel Zoe, protruding in her sequin shift dress with a pregnant belly, said she was going to have an early night before overseeing Oscar co-host Anne Hathaway's wardrobe. Though proud of her lines produced with QVC and Li & Fung, Zoe said she didn't design any of Hathaway's Oscar get-ups.
"It's all about fantasy," she said.
Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, who rolled solo to absorb Rojas' color-blocked prints and Native American-inspired imagery, said he looked forward to "the excitement, the spectacle, the production, the outfits, the fashion" at the Oscars. As for his favorite flick, he pledged loyalty with the Weinsteins.
"What's Harvey's movie?" he asked. "'The King's Speech'? I liked that very much."
