Karma for the details :flower: Some nondescript pieces, but some beautiful painstaking work - the wraps made of tiny shreds of material and pearls, the metallic beadwork, the feathered organza sewn to resemble fur - as well.

A lot of this begs the question "is this really couture?"

Right :o I like about 50% of the outfits, they're nicely done ^_^
Still, not very couture... but then, if you're not able to do couture, do what you can

It all looks much more buoyant and light than usual.
Yes, it is a little incongruous in places but the stuff can be rather complex in construction at times and hard to envision together.
The caftan undoubtedly has an unusual cut. I would guess it is a continuous pattern from the look of it.
I don't think one should confuse haute couture with tight, form fitting hard construction. Poiret, Mme. Grès, Vionnet all come to mind as examples of "flou".

Good point! :flower: I hate the bags and sandals too, but there are redeeming qualities here as well. would love to see the caftan up close.

gius (and any others who are interested in the material construction technique), I really like the way the b/w prints on the fabric is played up and given another dimension with the working of textures, fluttering "pages" for the skirt and the knitted/woven fabric effect for the cocoon top. It makes the garment more vivid and alive. The other olive green flutter "pages" cocoon is, on the other hand, horrid.
i totally agree
it looks like they've cut fabric into strips
very lovely, fabric distortion

i wonder what fabric it is if they can do that
i think it's only the artificial fibres that won't fray when you've cut them (particularly when using heat to cut than scissors)

Could it be laser cutting that seals off the edges with heat? These have to to be cut and sewn en masse in batches, can't imagine scissors, that's an awful lot of cutting. Imagine though, that they did that in the old days, cut and sewn and layered page by page....On the other hand, the frayed organza "fur" is a nice touch, though copied from Chanel? This is such a strange collection, some truly hideous stuff but nice techniques.

^_^ so interesting the technology being used in fashion these days...
seems to be becoming the norm

(i still work "by hand" :ninja: )

haha, i see what you mean
definitely... wonderful techniques
but in terms of design maybe not as appealing...

is this the 'organza fur' you mentioned

^the last one doesn't seem to be frayed though

A hit for Maurizio!

I like how its kinda updated HC .. love the uber intricate details on everything .. the shoes pretty much sums it all ...

Usual colors and materials .. diff techniques and presentation .. an improvement!
