McQ Alexander McQueen for Target

I know right, but please believe if it happens my mother will have some of these pieces and I might have to try and work some of the pieces into my wardrobe. lol

When I first heard this I thought "No H&M?". If McQueen is wanting to be more of a household name, then Target is good, but his prestige will indeed take a big hit. I mean none of the Go International stuff is known for being really great quality but I will definitely be lining up outside my local Target if this is true to get a few pieces.

i LOVE the idea of target scooping H&M and grabbing mcqueen.

there's nothing really democratic about the designer stuff at H&M. its only in a few stores and the ebay vultures come out in full swing.

im seriously not interested in the go international lines Target has had. And McQueen? I don't see a fit....

at least it isn't Kohl's, Kmart, Steve and Barry, or Wal Mart.

THAT would be absolutely dreadful.

I bet you a nickel there is going to be a poorly cut t-shirt with a McQueen skull on it. Possibly emblazoned with plastic rhinestones that fall off in a few hours.

Target definitely needs a more high profile designer to jumpstart the buzz on the GO series again. They started out with a bang then just went on a run of one obscure designer after another. It's admirable that they want to give attention to up-and-comers but they need to bring out the big guns sometimes to get people's attention.

Target to Launch McQueen Line

Target to Launch McQueen Line
by Sharon Edelson/wwd.com

Target in March will launch a new fashion initiative called Designer Collaborations. The program will bring the styles of well-established designers to the mass merchant at typical Target prices. Alexander McQueen is the first on deck and will design a version of his McQ collection called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target. The collection will have rock 'n' roll influences and edgy details such as studs and tattoo-print fabrics. Designer Initiative is a separate program from Target's Go International, which focuses on young or emerging designers. Target said additional Designer Collaborations will be announced in the future. Each collection will be available in stores for a limited time.

well then that would be utterly stupid since mcq is also heavily geared towards men too.

wwd predicted this. they said that an emerging rotating designer would probably take the place of isaac mizrahi. i am excited for this and i cant wait to hear more details in the morning
it seems like it might be geared towards more older people than the "go international" designers.
i think target tested the male market with the keanan duffty items and came up empty. i think they should hire someone like john bartlett to design mens items.

Target’s New Cheap-Chic Line Kicks Off With Alexander McQueen

Target is planning to announce Wednesday that Alexander McQueen, the British enfant terrible of fashion, will design a collection of apparel for the mass-market retailer under a new program called “Designer Collaborations” in which it will partner with well-known designers to create limited-edition lines of clothing.
Mr. McQueen, who is known for edgy antics like sending robots out on the runway to spraypaint models’ white dresses, will design the first collection, which will be sold on Target.com and the retailer’s stores from March 1 through April 11.
The line, named McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, will be inspired by British rock band The Duke Spirit and will be priced within the retailer’s cheap-chic price range. (Designer Jonathan Saunder’s current pieces for Target include skirts for $18.89 and dresses for $27.99, for example.) The retailer notes that the new program differs from its GO International lines in which emerging designers like Proenza Schouler and Luella Bartley have created limited-edition lines for Target.
Target has had success with such partnerships so far — its Anya Hindmarch line of handbags sold out minutes after it started selling online in early October. The retailer says it will announce future collaborations with established designers for the new program throughout next year.

I'm excited to see what he comes up with, I've been disappointed with the latest target collaborations.

Regarding the wall street journal article, I'd like to know more about how this new program differs from the GO International lines?

if i had H&M stock id seriously dump it for target stock right now..

seriously, H&M's investor's are going to be furious in December when they receive no net gain due to the CDG collaboration...

Does anyone know when this line is coming out? Next summer? Fall?
