A star-packed movie featuring Bruce Willlis, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme among others is to be shot in Bulgaria, Bulgaria-based NU Boyana studios CEO David Varod has confirmed. He talks about the much-anticipated sequel to "The Expendables", as well as other exciting prospects, in an exclusive interview for Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency).
Some very big names have been mentioned recently as very likely to shoot in Bulgaria soon, the likes of Bruce Willis and Silvester Stallone. Is there any development on that? Yes, we are definitely going to do that project. It is going to be a sequel the "The Expendables". The shooting is going to take place the second week of September. The movie is on, definitely. It will be a very good thing for Bulgaria, since there are some very big stars coming.
Would you disclose some of the names coming for sure? Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke...who else? Of course, Bruce Willis. The director is Simon West, who is also a name. He is already here and has started working on the film. I believe the sequel will be better than the first movie.
There was another possible project involving Ben Affleck and George Clooney recently linked to NU Boyana.
Anybody else raise their eyebrow a little about the name of Mickey Rourke’s character in the Expendables? Tool? Really? Stallone usually tries hard to be hip to the times, but I guess he somehow missed all the, shall we say, negative implications that come with calling somebody a tool in 2010. I bring that up because weapons-making, tattoo-inking, chopper-driving Mr. Tool will have a smaller-but-more-significant role in the Expendables 2. Nu Image/Millenium has just released an official synopsis for the flick that thusly reads…
“The Expendables are back and this time it's personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.”
Given the news about Van Damme angling to play a villainous enforcer in this second macho outing, I suspect his character will likely be doing the dirty work of the ruthless dictator described above. Or maybe he’ll be working for another mercenary intermediary (Willis? Schwarzenegger?) and make this sequel’s plot even closer to that of the original? Casting speculation for a role in an Expendables sequel will unlikely ever garner as much enthusiasm and discussion as even the smallest supporting role in a comics movie typically does. Still, I'll put the question out - - who would you Screened Heads want playing Fiona and offsetting all the testeterone? They’d have to rewrite the part some, but we all know that Cynthia Rothrock is the only suitable choice.
MOST celebs thrive off adoration and ridiculous riders in their white-draped dressing rooms with red smarties hand-picked by an unlucky runner.
But not MICKEY ROURKE.
The beefy actor has the mentality of a rockstar when it comes to notoriety, saying: "For me, this whole crazy thing has never been about the fame or the drugs.... or the money - it's always been about the p***y."
The cheeky actor, who has just finished shooting The Wrestler, also opened up about his early career. Mickey told Empire: "It is something of a delicious rareity. From the very start I was p***ing people off. I mean, it wasn't especially intentional; more that I just wasn't educated enough to appreciate that it was a business, that there were politics."
On Body Heat (Mickey's breakthrough movie"They wanted to pay me $1,000 a day. I wanted $1,500 and wouldn't do it for any less. I didn't particularly need that extra $500. F***, I was working as a bouncer in a transvestite bar at the time, so it wasn't like I was in the strongest position to be making demands. But something made me have to have more than they were prepared to give. And I wouldn't compromise. I couldn't compromise. There was no compromise in me. Still ain't much of it. And that really put people's backs up. The beginning was pretty much the beginning of the end."
He also revealed his success with the ladies "is all part of the game", adding: "My level of success with women has generally depended on which movie I've had out at the time, so I'm feeling pretty confident right about now."
What is Mickey Rourke’s Favorite Location In a Club?
Mickey Rourke hmm where do I begin? Do you know when people always say a celebrity is really really cool? **** THEM! Mickey is really the coolest I will tell you why! Mickey does not ever need to hang in a hidden super duper VIP owner table to protect himself from the masses, Mickey hangs literally at the bar near the entrance of the walkway of 1Oak to meet and greet with people and take pictures. Afraid of talking to him? Do NOT BE! Spoke with him for 15mns about upcoming movies etc and how he got into the scene blah blah you dont care. Long story short he never hides from a camera or a smiling face but I promise you I can see he has a very aggressive character so I am sure if you cross him the wrong way he may swing at you (hence the reason for his evil roles in IRON MAN and some of his movies? ). Stay Tuned, you will be seeing Mickey in theaters soon!
Over the years, Mickey Rourke has developed somewhat of a reputation as a ladies' man. But after enjoying the company of many gorgeous females on the awards circuit for The Wrestler a couple of years ago, it looks like the actor may have finally settled down.
The 58-year-old is still going strong with Russian model Anastassija Makarenko, 24, after nearly two years together. Onlookers may have thought Rourke had moved on after seeing the pair walking through Greenwich Village - however it appears Makarenko had simply cut off her long locks in favour of a short crop.
The couple met on a photoshoot in 2009 and are now living together in New York. He said in an interview last year: 'She's a gift from heaven. 'Obviously she's a very beautiful woman. But she's got the biggest heart, she's got a great family, she's really close to her mother and father – they're great people.
Since a career resurgence thanks to The Wrestler - for which he won a Bafta in 2009 - Rourke is in demand again in Hollywood. He recently wrapped filming on Greek epic Immortals and The Courier. He's also signed for numerous future projects including The Blind Bastard Club, Seven Psychopaths, Mississippi Wild and The Expendables 2.
Mickey Rourke, Charles Barkley, Randy Moss and Bernard Hopkins were among celebrities who caught the Ultimate Fighting Championship 133 Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Rourke, Barkley and B-Hop sat ringside, while Moss and U.S. Men's National Team Soccer goalie Tim Howard were elsewhere in the arena. philly.com
