Miu Miu F/W 2023.24 Paris

Definitely agree that this collection could have been edited down. I get that Miu Miu is having such a resurgence that they wanna put as much inventory out there, but a quarter of the collection were duplicative looks. I'm glad she didn't do a repeat of the crop top and mini skirt combo though. I saw Kylie Minogue in the room and I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up wearing the sparkly finale looks in a concert.

What is concerning is that Miuccia gave up Prada as the line and clearly invests 100% of her energy and time for Miu Miu. We can see season after season the disparity between cash-cow Prada and Miu Miu which is her creative and intellectual outlet...
In all fairness, Miu Miu is Miuccia's eponymous label she made, so her work at Miu Miu has always been purer to her sartorial ideals. Meanwhile Prada is the brand she inherited and has to act as the Louis Vuitton of the Prada Group. It's only more obvious now that Simons is Co-Artistic Director, allowing Miuccia to concentrate on her eponymous label.

I don't think I'll ever see what's appealing about Prada / Miu Miu / Miuccia's personal style. And that's fine I guess. I have already made peace with the fact I hate all of this.
I think that the main appeal of Miuccia's work is that it portrays a femininity that is neither super dark and moody or loud and extravagant like what her contemporaries were doing. Personally, I prefer Dries and Consuelo since they had that same look, but a bit more consistent in their execution.

I love the pieces but I don’t like the overall outcome.
Im maybe in the minority but I don’t like Lotta’s styling for MiuMiu…
Basically, it is like a greatest hits of 2000’s MiuMiu. The dresses looked like MiuMiu back in the day when they still showed at Milan and the separates are more of the early days of the Paris era.

I think it’s a good collection of essentials. I love a twin-set by Miuccia. She does it like nobody else and I really think that the collection has a sense of emergency in a good way because the pieces are simple and timeless but have that wow factor thanks to the cut or the fabrics.

I was confused by the cast and I’m still confused about the menswear…Is it the return of MiuMiu menswear or are those just women’s looks on skinny boys?

Miuccia’s outfit was again fabulous!
I need a magazine editor to do an issue about her house and her closet!

I love it. It feels right for the times. It’s derivative of the past, but it feels new. We haven’t seen this type of sexy from Miu Miu or Prada in a very long time. She really does it the best. It’s my favorite collection of the season. One negative I have is the sneakers. I think we can all agree that the entire world could live without the Miu Miu x New Balance collaboration.

Kim Noorda!
It's an enjoyable collection; uncluttered and desirable. I love the man twin-set.
Also refreshing to see a few models who aren't plus size, just not super skinny - in the past Miuccia said that she is reluctant to put thiccer girls on the runway, but I think she can do it well.

Some of the looks reminds me of Vogue Italia editorial Makeover madness ;)

Great Miu Miu collection for the current times, one of my favorite shows of the season. It's been a while since the brand presented something that was both quirky and sexy (the last show I can think of that did that was Spring/Summer 2015). Overall, it's light-hearted and fun, while still having a lot of desirable individual pieces. I do agree that it could've benefitted from some editing down. I also don't think they're going to fully re-boot Miu Miu menswear, they seem keen on simply calling their pieces gender-neutral (probably a cost-saving tactic, while also gaining social cred).

Some of the looks reminds me of Vogue Italia editorial Makeover madness

I thought this too while watching the show. Lotta has taken inspo from Meisel before for the Miu Miu collections (such as how Miu Miu's S/S 2022 collections seems to be inspired by Meisel's Vogue Italia April 2010 'Shrunken To Fit' ed.). Which makes no sense as to why Meisel isn't shooting the Miu Miu ad campaigns.

Yeah that makes sense. And my own femininity has almost always been dark and moody very much so. what you said really illuminates for me why I could never really quite like her approach (and I found myself feeling almost guilty for it as her approach to fashion, her vision means so much to people... even intellectually to a degree). Nice response, I appreciate it. Oh yeah and for me the best dressed person in fashion has always been Rei (i feel like this says a lot about what I appreciate).

A collection that is quintessentially Miu Miu. It's not her best but still great.
Lotta is ok but often overdoing it in the styling. Still better than Katie Grand but I think Miuccia works best with Fabio and Olivier Rizzo.

Stop teasing us with the menswear already! This has been going on a for a few seasons already.
I know some men have been buying Miu Miu womenswear for a while, but there is no official mens wear. I'm sure it would be a hit.

just what i needed: sparkly panties to walk around in, lol

some very nice coats and bags, as well as the floaty dresses with appliqué

agree with others about the bad - TRY HARD - cast

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Wow! It's not the most innovative, nor the most interesting design, and yes it feels a bit redundant from her classics, but... It was put together in such a fun way with such a specific narrative.
It has the sort of smart humor that Prada seems to be missing at the moment. I'm absolutely obsessed.

Can someone enlighten me as to who was the bad casting? Other than the closing model/actor, and the bigger name models, I'm not familiar with any of them...

totally agree with you @Lola701. it did feel indeed like a Miu Miu greatest hits but if it’s what it takes to get the brand on the spotlight I’ll take it I guess.

the casting was mostly a non-event and the styling was the weakest part for me, could’ve been way better, but Lotta’s work is rarely my cup tea.

love the underwear as outerwear, the styling and colour palette is magnifique but i hate the casting
