Model Casting F/W 11.12

@lemode: I spot Lisanne de Jogn, Nimue Smit and Maud Welzen backstage at BCBG! #bcbg #nyfw

Jac, Julija Step and Caroline Brasch Nielsen too! #bcbg #nyfw

Patricia Van der Vilet, Simona Andrejic, Sigrid Agren! #bcbg #nyfw

My favourite Kristina Romanova is there! Also Jacquline J and Friga Gustavsson #bcbg #nyfw

Ohhh God, that's what i call a diverse cast..emmmmm, not.

well, I have to agree...the cast wasn't that great...all the girls basically looked the same...

Seriously, 500 (?) girls went to the casting and they ended up with THIS final cast?

BCBGs cast? I was positively surprised.
I liked they didn't cast as much newcomer as last season! Because last time it really was like ... "okay, who is she? and I don't know her either". It were too many unknown faces. This time it was a better mix.

first picture in thE Richard chai thread is Dempsey Stewart @ Wilhelmina not sure if that means she opened

St John had the best cast so far. It could also be my favorite of the whole season.

Richard Chai had the best casting so far in my book...

I agree w/you, the casting had a signature style and Depmsey at Wilhelmina opened which is excellent. Bethany Terry, Charlotte Free, Codie Young looked great as well. And Katlin Aaas was a cool suprise.

Nat Joos will cast United Bamboo, Wayne, Cynthia Steffe and Karen Walker. Who's doing Lacoste then since it's not her? Jennifer Starr? She used to do a lot for them.

So BCBG is emerging as quite a show to open/close at the onset of the FW? With Arizona doing so well last year, hopefully Juju will enjoy similar success.

Also, not saying it's not important, but I'm really getting tired of how 'diversity' seems to be the only marker of whether casting was good or not. It's just same statements being made over and over again with nothing new being brought to the table. If weight talk has been delegated to its own thread, so should diversity policing.

I'm beginning to realize that NYFW isnt taken so seriously (at least that's what I gather from the models' threads re: skipping NYFW for Paris and Milan), is that why a lot of the big names are missing? or is it just the big shows haven't happened yet?

^ well NY is taken more seriously than London, I think its just that most of the bigger shows in NY are later in the week. But they seem to be fewer and further in between.

Personaly I always see NYFW as the week for the necomers. It's a good way to see and find out who will be a rising star this season. It really is some kind of of guessing, forming the casts, see new girls and see how the status of certain models developed. And only a few selected necomers will actually do really good in Milan and Paris because the casts there are more established, also because the more bigger names jump on.

hey, it's only the second day ;)
