Model Casting F/W 11.12

Anyway back to topic before a Mod interferes, great casting at both Vera Wang and Rodarte. Sofar Alexander Wang's casting is still the one to beat.
Winners sofar; Juju, Emily, Arizona and Daphne. Curious what CK will bring and how Europe will develop.

Emily Baker and Kate King are the new faces to beat. Fabiana Mayer also has an impressive showlist.

Emily Baker really started the week strongly (out of nowhere) by opening Max Azria and Edun, and walking Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger etc. I think the buzz around Juju will die down because she's REALLY not very interesting. Maybe they'll have to chop her hair off like they did with Britt? Although Codie Young started the week a bit slowly, she's really heating up as the week goes on. She just walked Thakoon, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and Marc By Marc, and I think if she walks Calvin Klein, she'll be a serious newcomer once Milan Fashion Week starts.

Hope Juju doesn't die down, I don't see why she would be more likely than someone else would in her position. In fact, since her look is more classic, it's probably less likely that she'll be just the flavor of the moment. I disagree that she's not beautiful or interesting because she's both, imo. And with 15 [great] shows to her name already, is that the most for a newcomer in NY so far?

^I kind of fear Juju is here to stay as well. Anyway let's nominate Codie and Kate King as well. 2 more days to go, any other contenders?

^Dempsey at Wilhelmina, maybe? She opened Richard Chai, did Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc, Preen, DvF etc... I know, her show list is not comparable to the one of Russel Marsh's risk-free universal weapon Juju yet but still pretty impressive.

Don't count out Zuzanna Bijoch, either ;) And while Aymeline Valade's look is more specific than most, she will also be someone to watch in Europe.

I'm all for Aymeline, she has a very distinctive look and from what I can see a personality to back it up as well..

Count me in on the Aymeline train. Her refined look is more suited toward the European catwalks, so I have hopes she'll pick up steam there. Although her NY shows, though small in number, are nothing to laugh at in terms of quality.

BTW, what happened to KK at Herve Leger? I thought people here said she was opening. I saw she was being interviewed backstage and then she never walked.

looking forward to the casting in paris/milan. the casting in nyc sucks! especially the men line ups for shows!

I believe she was in the front row. Perhaps the FB hint was just poorly worded?

Aymeline & Zuzanna Bijoch are my favorite new faces this NYFW. I hope they continue into Europe. Very strong looks.

I have to be honest though.. I'm not too crazy over Juju. Not very distinct. And Emily Baker & Kate King are doing really well but neither girls really are that exciting to me.. hmmm... who knows maybe I'll change my mind (ie Arizona Muse)

Emily Baker and Janice Seinen are my fave newcomers. Ofcourse there's Codie Young and Aymeline.

Are there any other designers in NY that do exclusives apart from Calvin Klein? I'm wondering because Alejandra Alonso hasn't walked any shows yet and it seems weird she wouldn't have booked anything as she did very well last season and walked some major shows and has just been in Vogue Italia, too. So I thought she might be an exclusive?
Also, is it true that Proenza Schouler does exclusives now? Someone told me that but I don't know where they got that from.

I've really liked the casting at NYFW so far. Surprising that so many big girls and girls who usually walk a lot of shows skipped NY this season though (Freja, Abbey, Snejana, Vlada, Anna S, etc.). And I also haven't spotted many impressive young newcomers but agree about Aymeline Valade being great. Good to see some older girls doing so great.

My favorite newcomer is Charlotte Free

Not that I know anything about this girl, but speaking in general, if a buzzed model does not do New York, it could mean a "worldwide exclusive" in Milan or Paris, for example for Prada or Givenchy.

Hmm, she's a bit more on the commercial side so I don't really see her as a Prada or Givenchy girl. She seems more fitted for something big in NY. But we'll see, I guess. But of course a worldwide exclusive would be awesome ^_^

yeah I found it and thought, when KK is walking anyway she'll be open for sure!
So I was like very confused she didn't even show up at the end.
But as couturecandystor said, maybe they just explained it the wrong way.
But hello I mean "Guess who's coming back to the runway" means something different to me than sitting in the front row :innocent:
