This is the way this industry is, its all rubbish!! a new faceis never a new face. Jourdan Dunn worked for TWO years before making it big, they made it sound like it happened overnight. it never does. its just more drama and interesting to sell if you say it happened overnight like cinderella!!! kate moss did it for 4 years before making it in the face mag. again you never hear about this!!!

same with Joan Smalls worked few years before making it big!

ever since S/S 2010, I keep thinking that Versace can only afford 3 or 4 "big" named girls like Natasha and Isabeli. They have been pretty consistent with big named casts in their shows in past season but once again, for Fall 2011, I saw only a couple of big names... yes some of the other girls are "successful" that were in the cast, but I'm talking about the established of established of girls. I might be wrong and it might be the new direction they are taking their shows in but who knows... it has definitely crossed my mind.

exactly! and models change too. versace clothes are better fit for WOMAN instead of 14-15 years old girls. so if these girls get a bit older, they will make versace clothes look better too bc when they reach to the stage of adult, their bodies have developed to its fullest. then they can better showcase versace clothes.

versace cut is usually tight around the body, therefore it prefers models with curvy figures rather than flat from head to toe.

if i were donatella, i would never let a 14-15 years old model showcase my clothes. i want curvy models who are old enough to be labeled as WOMAN.

There are lots of 15 yr olds who are a lot more "curvy" than a lot of the 20 something women catwalk models.. Curves don't just come with age , there are just different body types, and in my opinion , yhey all have the possibility of being sexy
I don't agree that "real women have curves", or that sexy = curvy
there are lots of dif types of real women , and dif body types can be sexy
congrats to Versace from going away from that stereotypical "sexy" cast

also can you tell me who were the 14 yr olds that you mention at Versace?

For the record, I don't like very young modelson the runway , I think 16 should be the minimum age

About Versace: Daphne walked last season also Versace at the age of 15, and also CK, Prada etc. etc.
I don't care if girls like her walk in the shows as long as it make sence and not to cast them just cause they're in at the moment. Sexy for me are curves, that makes the clothes more wanted for me. Daphne and Haylee both have a mature attitude, although Daphnes faces betrayd that she is a lot younger and her body needs to develop more and with the wrong clothes or make up its just not done. I liked them both at Versace, only the second dress for Daphne could better go to a woman.
What Wednesdayschild says it's true: i know 12 years olds with more curves then a 24 years old haha. But it's not only the curves, also the face.

I love how there are shows hyped up for their mediocre casting and yet solid shows like Derek Lam or today's Bottega rarely get a mention. Bottega is always a sight for my sore eyes to be honest, they have girls they are faithful to (Inguna!, Poly, Olga), other established girls who are a good fit and to that they add popular newcomers but while other shows heap up on the hot newcomers whether they fit into the show or not, Bottega people are always careful who they add to their cast. Simply love.

^I must say they certainly give the right looks/clothes to the right girls. The casting was great. A little doubt at one model, but that's just a detail.

Re the Versace casting:
While I would prefer that Donatella do things differently, I think that the cast that she assembled for the most part succeeded at executing her vision. I think that the models had good walks and while I think that there were a couple of missteps, I thought that the overall show was well done, and I am saying this as someone who had railed against young and / or awkward models being cast in grown up shows or wearing grown up clothes. Like Miuccia Prada, Donatella seems to want the presentation of the clothes to be more clinical and the models to be more clothes hangers and not inject too much personality and especially sexy swagger into their presentation of the clothes - I guess these days the personality shows are Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dior, Anna Sui and DSquared2 and the sexy shows are Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci, Pucci and perhaps Cavalli and Blumarine. While I would personally like to put Versace in the sexy-sexy category, apparently Donatella wants something more subdued.

Now I do think that Kasia was able to stand out because she was able to inject some swagger into the two outfits she walked (now Kasia's rent must've been due!), also that white gown looked great on that reddish haired model and dare I say that and newbie Hailey werked! the gown that she was wearing but unfortunately the low key styling works against her in the photos. Now Donatella is definitely being a sheep to the "it girl" phenomenon when it comes to having Arizona close but I also think that the dress was a problem too, she was ANTM Anya 2.0 in that dress, come to think of it that was a Versace dress too.

Yep you're right about Balmain and Blumarine, but at times they can stray into bad sexy, like after watching one of their shows I feel like I need to get treated for tetanus, crabs or some other VD.

I can see Gucci not being considered very sexy, it depends in the theme of the collection, glam may be a more appropriate label.

Bottega's cast was ON POINT. Loved seeing all the established girls there being perfect and fierce. It's way up there for best cast of the season. Would be number one if they had Snejana, lol. Don't know why they've never had Snejana walk for them.

Versace ideal model should be sexy of course but also with great personality!Tanya wasn't exactly the sexiest girl out there but she managed to turn into one of Versace symbols in 2008 due to her impeccable effortless walk

The main problem about Versace's casting is that is FULL of anynomous girls like Daphne,Hailey,Arizona,Ruby,Jacquelyn,Mirte and so on...they are clearly NOT sexy but they also don't have the personality to outshine other girls and stand out

I really miss girls like Edita,Maryna,Snejana,Carmen...and then another thing...if Daria can walk the same season for both Hakaan and Balmain why can't Donatella cast her for one of her shows?She was one of the iconic Versace model alongside Natasha Poly and Karolina Kurkova in early 2000
