definitely much prefer models. I was overjoyed with Australian Vogue last month when they had Luca Gadjus on the front!! This month its Rose Byrne...meh

They also had Lauren Bush (model), Nicole Trunfio, Gemma Ward a few times I think they have a pretty good balance. I don't know about other countries though......

A few more. I recognize that celebs are more common on US magazine covers, but models won't be out of a job any time soon. After all, this is just U.S. vougue, there are tons of other fashion mags out there.

I love Elise and Daria, but I also love seeing Nicole and Uma and Angelina (but they're practically models anyway) on covers, as well, more so than models (elise and daria excepting of course...they're the tops!!).

Definetly models. Celebs need to stick to their job description but then again lately celebs can seem to do whatever they want as far as careers, an acctress can be a singer, a singer can be a designer etc. So it makes sense why celebs think they can take models place. Plus like some of you have said celebs are boring and lack any kind of mystery.

In the current age of weird-looking models, celebrities do often make for more attractive covers. I like the idea of women on the covers of magazines having accomplished something more than winning the genetic lottery.

I think celebrities have become much better advertisements for designer clothing than models. Celebrities are more visible and come in more diverse body types that allow average women to envision themselves in the clothes. I don't think I've ever bought an outfit because I saw it on a model. I have always felt that good clothing will sell itself. If a woman likes what she sees and thinks she will look great in it she will buy it even it it's on a mannequin.

Well, I am also one of those regular fashion magazine readers, who is really put off by a celebrity on the cover. However, I must say that the return of The Supermodel era, if it happens, will not help, because, well, if some models become celebrities as big as some of today's actresses/pop-singer and are put on the cover of a magezine, then who will you see on the cover of the magazine ? Right, a celebrity ( who's job is modeling ). To summer up, the whole point of a model on the cover is a face that reflects the current trends and moods in the fashion, not itself, and so it is with the editorials and advertisements. In other words it's when a girl is used to create a certain image and not vice versa.

There is a reason why we need "models". Harsh as it sounds, photographer feels freer to embrace their style when working with a model. A model is basically a manequin to put clothes on. Their identity has to disappear. They are not Daria, Gemma, anymore. Their identity is the outfit they are wearing. I don't like the idea of using celeb in fashion. Not many celeb has what it take to be a model. I respect models a lot. Good ones make a huge difference. Fashion is about style. Generally, they pick the style, then the outfit, then the photography, then model. Therefore, the style is actually demonstrated. When they pick a celeb who's hot in the moment. Style is not style anymore. It is merely working to fit the Celeb's public image. I can't imagine Vouge actually think Sienna Miller's cover gonna sell more than Daria!! Honestly, except being Jude Law's fiance and being cheated by him, that girl hasn't done anything big. Suddenly, Sienna Miller is one of the A-list with her style (and only her style!) Then she landed a gig in a Casanova Movie. How stupid and commercial Hollywood has become! Art, when involving comercial, is no longer art! As an artist, I hate it when being ask to alter my imagination in a different way to flatter someone's face. I GET to pick the image. I GET to choose what I want to do with my idea. It is like: "Hey, we know you want to do about fire, but can you do blue instead for her?" HECK, who is she??? I don't care if she's the Queen of England. If you tell Van Gogh what he needs to draw, what do you think he'll say??? complete rubbish!!! Sorry I am a little offensive. It's just...this matter rubs me in everyway! (Bad way mostly!)

there's hardly any models on the cover of any US magazine. It always the "it" person of the moment. Its the only thing that gets them to sell. Celebrities.

I love models but when it comes to entertainment celebrities are the ones who can actually bring it.

a lot of people who don't really care about models.. cuz you know there are tons of people who really have no idea who is on the cover of a magazine if they aren't celebrities. but then again, if its for a fashion magazine then they should know.
