Models Who Aren't That Tall

I wonder what it is so special about Irina that Kate and Pete found in her that they would promote her if she really is as short as the picture a few pages back shows (and in her looks in general)... And, by the way, where is she from ? Greece ? Her name suggests so...

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like height is a lot less of an issue this year on the catwalk?

It seems so to me too. Though, the last year was similar. Actually, I even read it somewhere, that the industry's loosening the height thing...

think that model industry understand that short models are more signifiant because they are more representative of the society. By the way if you look clearly. Models who got conventional height can do great on the modelling industry but they can't be Successfull and popular if you see what i mean ( being a celebrity)

If they really thought so, there would be much more short models than just a few names and they wouldn't need to lie about the height of those models who are below the standarts. Besides, fashion industry has never tried to be closer to people's needs, it has always rather tried to convince people that they must care about fashion. And what exactly do you mean by conventional height ?

Now, Heidi Klum IS famous to the general public who have no much insight into modeling hence her VC contract (now her marriage with Seal also).

Melanie Thierry was sort of famous too I believe, back in the days when she was the face of Morgan (long, long time ago), but probably not as famous as Heidi.

I was slightly shocked to hear Naomi is 5'8-ish... I thought she was 5'11+ She has VERY long legs. If she really is that short, then her legs are probably the longest in proportion that I have ever seen.

Even more shocked to hear Cindy may be 5'7-ish. Always thought she was tall... 5'10 maybe... or so...

And, by the way, I think that Twiggy is not really a strong example when it comes to successful short models. I mean it was such long time ago... Everything was different... ;)

I have a friend who tried to sign with Ford in the 60s - they told her she had a great face however back then they wanted girls who were 5'9 + and the short models were pretty rare in the 60s as well so I think, regardless of decade, it's always been a matter of having that special something.

I always thought Natasha Poly is tall but if Caroline Trentini is 180, Natasha is less than 178 (as her agency lists her) and almost of the same height as Polina

I looked through the whole collection, all the shoes on the platforms were of the same height

Cindy Crawford is 5'7'', she says so herself. people just assume she's taller cause she's very famous
heidi klum, i'm not sure, but she definately looked a few inches shorter than tyra banks on tyra bank's show (i think heidi even had higher heels on) and tyra says she is 5'10'' even though she's listed as 5'11''.
linda evangelista is 5'9'' and she seems the average height to me...

Cindy's - 5'7  shocked...

But, at least, Claudia Shiffer is tall... Though, I remember this one picture from long long time ago, where Claudia stands next to Cindy, shoulder to shoulder, and it gives an impression they're the same height... Which is now strange, cause I was always sure Claudia's 5'11 or more...

Linda Evangelista is 5'9 1/2, I believe (176 cm)

^ i was looking for pics of lydia on style...
and i would say i have to agree that she is about 5'5''
first pic: fergie is 5'2'' so lydia can't be that tall
second pic: with theodora richards, who i would guess is about as short as supermodels go... she's definately under 5'4''

Yeah, Theodora is around 5'4, but when your mom is a supermodel and your dad is a rockstar, height is not really an issue ;)

Height may not be an issue for Theodora in such circumstances, but damn... how lucky all those other girls are to be models, when they are so short... And, most of them are not anything special, even... They're so many other girls, who are not any less pretty, and, ARE NOT ANY SHORTER, maybe even taller than them, and they can't model... Life is unfair...

actually, something i just remembered, apparently there was some article about socialites who were modeling, and they included lydia who apparently is doing badgly miscka or something, and lydia got mad and said she's a model because she's a model and not a socialite

I have more respect for Lydia as a model than Paris or either of the Richards sisters, because Lydia isn't at every Hollywood party and dancing on tables... that said, if she didn't have the means and money that she does behind her name, she wouldn't be a model- 5'5 is too short.

I am unfamiliar with Lydia at all, but I sort of see a model in Paris Hilton, even if she wasn't a Hilton... I mean, she's got height and she's just got something... Dunno... Actually, I think people often go a little too harsh on her (KhaoticKharma, I don't mean you in particular, more like the press and the general public...) I actually sort of like her.

She is definatley tall and thin but she doesn't photograph as well as a model should. She has a lazy eye that really shows in pictures and she doesn't seem to know how to change up her facial expressions..If she wasn't a Hilton she might be able to do some modeling still but she wouldn't be very successful.

^ Well, I obviously forgot to mention that she'd have to work at herself real hard. Really, I was going to mention that, I just forgot... She'd have to change her hair to something that looks natural, she'd have to learn posing not in a celebrity way and so on... But, then, if she hadn't started her adult life as a socialite, she may have never developed the lack of facial expressions that won't make her a good model. I mean, it all comes down to how you feel about yourself. Talking about Paris, I'd say that she decided she wants to be everywhere, but I don't think she's really enjoying it. I mean, when I look at her posing for paparazzi, I see some kind of shyness and discomfort in her pose... I think she doesn't really like it all, as she thinks she does... She just doesn't know any other. (I mean, her parents never worked either, they've been just socialites for their whole lives themselves...)

And then, I'm not saying Paris would make the most beautiful model.

Leah de w. seems to not be that tall
tasha tilberg too
mona damn mona as she said she's 5'6.5

Actually... Kate Moss? She's only 5'6, yet her appeal and photogenic face are amazing.
Daniela Freitas. She's a gorgeous Brazilian model, and takes photos with big models like Tiuu. I think she's amazing, too bad she's only like 5'8, while the runway models are usually a bit taller.
