I just find it hard to believe that there are a lot of fashion models under 5'8, if only for the fact that the majority of them were scouted, and didn't chase modeling. I wouldn't think of scouts going after anyone visibly under 5'8/5'9, unless she has an incredibly unique look, like Devon. Kate is just an exception.

I don't think that Devon's uniqueness would get her anywhere at all if she wasn't the daughter of 'someone'... But, I agree that Kate Moss is an exception... I wish I could see at least a few models in person to make my own judgements on the issue of height in modeling...

At the start of this video the models are walking down the runway in their own clothes, Sasha is at the very end behind Behati, looking about 4 inches shorter.

But Sasha and Snejana are the only short models in that pic, including the models in the background... the rest are easily 5'9+

One more thing... I'm way not sure that most models were scouted... I think the ways they become models vary so much and the girls who actually were scouted probably do not make the majority... The agents and models themselves make up all kinds of different stories about how they became models, which are often not true...

^ Yeah, Marilyn used to list her as 5'8 when she first appeared on the big scene, so Julia's definitely no taller than that. Unless she grew of course, but she was already like 18 then, so that doesn't seem too likely.

I think it's safe to assume that many, many of the girls listed as 5'9, 5'9.5'' and even 5'10 are really in the 5'8 range, but I sort of agree with KhaoticKharma, I doubt too many are shorter than 5'8. Or maybe 5'7.5''. There are the obvious examples of course, but other than that... nah.

But maybe I'm just being naïve and Mona really turns out to be 5'4, like someone suggested, which I guess would make Felicity Gilbert about 5'3, Julia Dunstall 5'6 and someone like Freja around 5'8....

I think at this point, height means a lot less than it did a few years ago; the fashion world is so disconnected from the rest of the entertainment industry that few of the models are famous; Liya Kebede is a superstar to me, but I'm fairly certain none of my friends know her from Natalia Vodianova Right now, people are just looking for that new face that can make a splash- whether she's 5'8 or 6'2!
