Most Overpriced Designer?

How is she surprised that brands have so many stocks when there are stores all around the world and on top of that stuff from department stores and all.
I must say that the change of CD accelerate also things.
There’s a lot of Daniel Lee BV stuff around in outlets and things like that. We have to remember that his tenure for example was cut short while still buzzing and over 1/2 seasons the products offering changed at the house.
A brand like Tod’s is still very present in department stores.
hate to say it but chanel jackets can be "investment pieces"
I think they are worth it. I mean, if anyone has the price of a classic bag to spend (10K), they should go for a Chanel blazer or coat.
But it’s still needs to be a very considerate buy because a « Chanel jacket » means everything and nothing. You have cotton tweed, wool tweed, mixed and embroidered fabrics. There’s literally stuff from the lightest to the heaviest fabric.
And beyond the cut, the buttons are so important.

For me a Chanel jacket, coat or little dress in tweed is always a good buy.

Definitely! And im really not sure when people complain about the current quality of Chanel. It seems to me that the complaints are not proportional to the actual quality being delivered. Maybe people are just complaining now because of the dramatic increase in prices. There will always be a bad made one and the store will probably fix it anyway.

Maybe vintage chanel stores are the ones making it seem like chanel's current quality is inferior so they sell more of their old stuff.

Balenciaga under Demna is the most tragic thing on earth. This is a $19 polyester sports jersey -- he didn't even give it a lining or a zip pocket or anything (needless to say there is an enormous hideous logo). How low does your self-esteem have to be to buy something so enthusiastically antithetical to the most basic ideas of luxury, quality and taste?

I actually think that when it comes to fashion and quality, overall, the brand is great. Particularly when it comes to knitwear and tweed. But it’s also one of those brands where aesthetic decisions can hurt a perceived quality. And they made unfortunate aesthetic decisions under Virginie.

I must say that FW2024 is quite great in terms of quality. Even the buttons makes me happy.

I haven’t bought a Chanel RTW piece in quite some times but everytime I had purchased an archive/vintage piece around that time, they have been great in terms of altering them for me.

I think Balenciaga is really the worst brand in the luxury market in terms of how they are handling their production. I think Givenchy comes close but now with the new CD, they will elevate again.

The problem with Balenciaga is that the perception is ruined for ever for me. Demna went too far in terms of commercialism.

Hard for me to ascertain "value" on labels I won't buy (chanel, hermes etc), but I will say that every time I've wandered into a Chanel boutique the merchandise (ie, blazers, tailoring, etc) looks phenomenal. I just simply am economically outside of that market lol, so why investigate? Same with a lot of Tom Ford, Armani, Zegna, Dior Homme (haven't checked the product post KVA), etc. Fair value for money is continuum because my $1,000 needs to go a lot farther than the $1,000 in someone living upper-class. Just is what it is.

Frankly the only time I've been unimpressed was with a lot of the 'lead' Kering RTW and accessories (ie, Gucci/YSL/Balenciaga), they just seemed insubstantial/unremarkable and crafted for an ask above your regular department store pricing structure.
