I agree with you stylesnob and fashnistabrooke - Juicy Couture is not worth the retail. totally outrageous! i also think that Prada and Marc Jacobs bags are overpriced.

Martin Margiela-- never even gets editorial and his sh*t is still like $1,200 for a plain white cotton tank.

Prada- #1 overpriced and overrated designer.

Gucci- For some weird reason I notice that their prices are a bit higher after Tom Ford left.

Chanel- They make it out so that NO ONE with a moderate income ($29,000-$49,000) could actually afford the least expensive thing in the collection.

Show me an example of this. That sounds way wrong to me. Most of his jackets/coats don't go above a few thousand dollars, even for the artisanal collection.

And I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a sh*t about editorials. Pricing does not center around how much magazine coverage you get.

btw, for people who still think the only thing that distinguishes a designer garment from average mall stores is the label and that that's why they charge high prices, you're wrong.....there's a loooong way from Juicy Couture to Prada. Even if construction isn't always the best with designer garments, fabrics are usually better (not always), among other factors that distinguish.

I think Dior is way over priced! Not the quality but the designs! Dior really needs someone else to be head designer than John Galliano. The current seasons stuff is horrible and you still have to pay like 1000 dollars for a t-shirt that is really tacky! Or the dress with knots it's like 10000 dollars and it looks horrible!

I agree with Sayan...and see, no-one ever mentions that because it's still relatively cheap in terms of a number, but not for what you get.

So adding to that list...Abercrombie and Fitch. It's stupid.

Someone earlier mentioned Jil Sander...I can't see how. I've seen few pieces, true, but each was amazing. For me, something has to have a "wow-factor" that distinguishes it, it has to have the effect of amazement at first touch and sight.

the pieces I have seen from Jil had that, completely justified in my opinion.

Also Dior Homme - the jeans from this season...I saw two pairs, the patched one that looked ueber-sh*tty and a washed pair of black ones - $500. I didn't even look twice at them or bother trying them on, they denim did not look good at all. Also the checkered t-shirt, looked like cheap cotton to me - $200.

Good point, Sayan and Arturo. I always think and suggest to others to think in terms of % markup not in monetary terms.

Andro - Margiela gets plenty of coverage... in right magazines (btw, I fail to see a point between editorial coverage and garment price).

I think Tomas Maier for Bottega Vaneta is a little on the pricy end... underwear by him is nearly $300 and shorts anywhere from $270-400.. but he is a really GREAT designer and would pay that to own one of his things

wow $ 124 = bargain, my votes go to Chanel, Valentino, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Ellie saab, and i personally think true religion jeans are very overpriced.

elie saab is soo reasonable...his couture gowns start and some go for 18000 which is sooo cheap compared to everyone else who does couture..i mean the amount of beading used is amazing i think he should charge way more..i mean helloo..lacroix and dior HCT start at 40000...!
