Those shots of all the supreme talents of that era together is gold.
Such a supreme golden era high fashion in every sense: Design vision, construction, production, presentation and casting. And Olivier is truly the fairest of them all: God, he's gorgeous. Although Filip looks gorgeous as well in those days (…and looking at the thumb, I thought Narciso was Azzedine LMFAO). Their aesthetic, they vision, was so ridiculously sophisticated, with such highly demanding sensibility through and through. Their women walked above the mere mortals. Their reign really was of the highest of standards that has yet to be reached and exceeded. We were so blessed.
If Vogue were to arrange a shoot and feature of the leading designers and models in 2025, the cast would likely be JW, Mathieu Blazey, Pharrell, Phoebe, Pieter Mulier, Sarah Burton, Demna, Chitrose, Julian Dossena, Olivier Rousteing, Jacquemus… and a cast of catalogue headcount models and Paloma, in basic merch or desperate, overwrought look-at-me clownwear/childrenswear sensibility. It’s a fairly tolerable lineup even if the majority of the chosen aren’t my preferences, in particular Jacquemus and Pharrell. That should go without saying for anyone with eyes and any sense of standard. And none are anywhere close to the highest standards of the superior past.
