Overrated Actors

Johnny Depp. He does nothing for me. He did some interesting films in the 90's.That's it. His carrer has taken such an awful turn IMO. Of course he's more successful and popular that ever.

Brad Pitt isn't overrated. He's not considered to be an amazing actor. He's always been criticized for being pretty/ too hollywood. He can be good when well cast but he's generally average .
Same thing for Julia Roberts. I've never met anyone who thought she was a great actress(an oscar means nothing, at best that she was good for this part)) So I wouldn't say she's overrated. The public knows she's crap. They still go and watch her movies .You don't need to be talented to be successful. Both Pitt and Roberts are good moviestars. Not good actors. Though Pitt is watchable and can be good. Roberts is just terrible.

Renee Zellwegger is soo overated. I actually hear people giving her praises but I just want to punch her when she does that babyface thing. So irritating !

Zac Efron  I don't know if you can consider him as an 'actor' actor, but if I hear his name once again I'm going to kill somebody!

I love Dakota:blush::P.She seems to be a hated character by many persons, but I think she´s talented for her age and very down-to-earth.

Overrated actors?
Hmm,I can just think of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.I think they´re pretty and I don´t think they´re untalented, but defintely overrated in my opinion.

Ugh, cant stand Zac Efron either, I dont understand whats the fuss around him.
YEP! I just want to slap him for being such a bad actor/"singer".

I don't think the Olsens have ever really been praised for their acting skills, but I'm not sure. I grew up with them, so they're always the "Olsen" twins, no matter what.

I love Keira Knightley but her acting is meh, at best. I loved her in Pride and Prejudice though and the director, Joe I think, did a great job of keeping her from overracting. It's this thing she does with her mouth, eyes, and head whenever she's being "intense." Her head does this weird thing-yea now I sound weird.

Scarlett is another one, who I loved in one role. Girl With a Pearl Earring was amazing but other than that-nada.

Honestly? I'd love some of the so called "talented" people take an intensive course with other acting students. I'd just love to see how well some of them do with others with geniune, real talent who might never get famous-it'd be pretty interesting.

I think Mischa Barton did that awhile ago-went to England, London I think, and took acting classes. I wonder how that worked out for her...

She doesn't bore me - she creeps me out! she's like a grandma in a little girls' body ... it's so weird.

I especially can't stand listening to her speak when she isn't acting, she sounds eerie because she doesn't sound her age, it just bugs me.

It's Zac Efron ^_^ :flower: (I'm sure it's a typo  )

Personally I don't see why he's over-rated especially when he's known more for his pretty boy looks than his acting

it was a typo. lol

and im just sick of hearing about him.
how hes gorgeous, what premireshes attending, what movies hes in, blahblahblah.

god, theres more important things about who these celebrities are in movies with, or dating or just fooling around with.
theres global warming happening for gods sake. lol.

thats my opinion, CELEBRITIES are over-rated altogether.
but hearing they're gossip is my guilty pleasure

^ Nah, don't feel bad colourmefashion. I too, enjoy going on gossip blogs but I do volunteer work.

FYI: I don't mind Zac, but everytime I see him I want to put a wig on him and call him a pretty girl!

Angelina Jolie (was good in Girl Interrupted and Gia. Has she even done comedy? She plays a good nut, just like Brad. Think 12 Monkeys and Kalifornia)
Tom Cruise (I agree with the person who said he was good in Magnolia. It was an intense role and he pulled it off. He overacts).

The problem I have with so many american actors is that they have no technique. It's sad that British actors make more convincing american characters than actual americans. Anyway...

Overrated:

Johnny Depp -his inspired choices and varied characters belies his actual acting ability. nothing truly memorable or impressive.

Denzel Washington -he has chemistry with absolutely no one. He acts by himself as if there is no one else in the scene with him, and he over emotes big time that he always looks about to crap his pants.

Russell Crowe -another over emoter. Capable actor but overrated.

Renee Zellweger -can't act. Embarrassingly bad in Cold Mountain

Underrated:

Tom Cruise- Yeah, everyone hates him and he's crazy. But despite popular opinion, I don't believe he's a bad actor. He plays his characters straight up. No versatility, but I think he's a reliable actor.

Kate Beckinsale- Laurel Canyon, Cold Comfort Farm, Last Days of Disco. She's freaking good and no one knows it. We only know her performances in her mainstream crap movies.

Carla Gugino- give this woman substantial part, please!

Lindsay Lohan-I'm going to be killed for this, but she is an actual decent actress when she's not coked up or drunk!

Perfectly-rated actors that are underexposed:

Ben Whishaw - The most lovable serial killer ever in Perfume.

Ben Foster - magnetic and charismatic

Anton Yelchin -something about his deadpan deliveries that makes him so enjoyable to watch.

Leonardo Di Caprio has completely snuck under the radar for me so i would consider him underrated. Just saw him in The Departed and Blood Diamond and he is especially fantastic in Blood Diamond (although i still think he looks a little young). He was great in Whats eating Gilbert Grape ages ago but then his teenage base killed him for me. It's so great that he didn't end up like young hollywood today and has a great body of work.

i compeltely agree with Johnny Depp- i totally don't get it. As far i'm concerned he's in love with himself considering kate moss and vanessa what's her name look very very like him, especially their bone structure.

Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman---Each play the same role over and over again.
