Paul & Joe for Target

check out the new issue of marie claire with courtney cox on the cover.
it has a 19.99 flowered short sleeve top in it. its beautiful! and i dont remember it being on the target press section.

eeee!
oh, i'm getting excited now! I'm going to have to tone it down a bit, cause i added up everything i wanted & it came to $400!! oops...
i'm getting irritated though by all the magazine articles - for some reason although we do get US mags here in the uk, it takes forever for them to hit the shelves. I've gone in and checked for the kate bosworth teen vogue so many times the staff in Borders think i'm crazy, but its still bloody LC from Laguna Beach on the front!!
shall keep trying, though...the things i'm willing to do for P&J

oh yeah, and i'm relying on you US girls to be my sizing moles - if anyone goes in on the first day and tries stuff on, post your findings here, as I'll be poised at my computer ready to hit "add to cart"!!!

well, if you are lucky youll be able to get some of your items on sale, clickmekate.
i think the sizing will most likely be exactly like the luella stuff. if you post your measurements in here, im sure we'll be able to surmise what your size will be.
does anyone else notice that there seems to be half as much tara stuff as there was luella stuff?
hopefully there will be just as much paul & joe items as there were luella!

i think that most of the items are cute but i must admit that this whole Target thing usually disappoints me. i bought stuff from both luella's and tara's collection and i ended up returning most of the stuff. it seems like they only look cute on print or online but when you see it in person, it looks blah.

its a 112 piece collection (according to shop etc)

clickmekate, how many are on your list? and you havent even seen the new items that were in shop etc. and marie claire that werent in the press section.

dont feel bad, i wanted to get 300$ worth of luella stuff as well.

Chic Parisian designer Sophie Albou launches affordable styles nationwide

MINNEAPOLIS (July 2006) —Target is partnering with French designer Sophie Albou to continue GO International™, an innovative initiative designed to delight guests with affordable fashion created by world-renowned designers. Sophie Albou’s Paul & Joe® brand, which has an international following, will launch an exclusive collection in Target stores nationwide on August 1, just in time for fall shopping. The collection of limited-edition women’s fashion will be available in stores and online at Target.com for 90 days.

Reflective of Albou’s own personality, the Paul & Joe brand is both flirty and sophisticated. Albou’s innovative use of materials and uniquely designed prints have created a signature whimsical style. Since the launch of the brand 10 years ago, Paul & Joe has continued to evolve and now includes lines for women, men, children, accessories, beauty and lingerie. Carried in more than 30 flagship stores, including Paris, London and Tokyo as well as high-end retailers worldwide, Paul & Joe has attracted celebrity fans such as Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley and Kirsten Dunst.

“Sophie Albou brings her world-renowned design expertise to Target guests this fall,” says Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. “Her collection is comprised of mix-and-match separates and accessories that incorporate her unique, yet elegant flamboyance, with a girlish touch.”

Paul & Joe enthusiasts can expect nothing less than Albou’s retro-modern cool for fall 2006. Often called an “anti-conformist,” Albou’s design philosophy encourages Target guests to incorporate individual pieces into their fall wardrobe to find a unique personal style. Inspired by her Parisian “savoir faire” lifestyle, her combination of fresh colors, vintage-inspired prints and feminine detailing create a collection of 112 styles for GO International at Target. The collection, priced $7.99 – $149.99, includes breezy tops, slim sweaters and boudoir-inspired camisoles that pair perfectly with flowing skirts, skinny pants, twill culottes and houndstooth minis. Chunky cashmere ponchos, leather motorcycle jackets and corduroy blazers are must-have layering pieces for the fall that complete the Paul & Joe for Target look.

Parisian-born Sophie Albou began her professional career at Azzedine Alaia at the age of 16 upon her graduation from the prestigious Institut Francais de la Mode. She then joined the family business, the famed French shirtmakers Le Garage, and worked under her mother for seven years before launching the Paul & Joe menswear line in 1995. Her refreshing take on men’s fashion led to rave reviews. Two years later, Albou launched Paul & Joe womenswear with great success.

There's a pretty nice sized picture of the owl bag in the August issue of Teen Vogue (Kate Bosworth on the cover). Sorry I didn't scan it, but I agree... it's really cute! :D

Shoot, I gave up on searching the press release everyday, and now here it is! LOL! Of course, if anyone were to beat me to the punch on that one, it's lucy! Thanks for posting that. And here's her bio also from Target.com's press section:
Sophie Albou Biography

A breaker of rules, a true independent spirit, Paul & Joe designer Sophie Albou is a one-of-a-kind talent. Born in Paris to a family of shirtmakers, Sophie Albou studied at the prestigious Institut Francais de la Mode and began her professional career working at fashion house Azzedine Alaia at age 16. From there she joined her family business, La Garage, where she trained in the art of fashion design under her mother. After seven years, she stepped out on her own with the creation of the Paul & Joe brand in 1995.

Named after her two sons, Paul & Joe originally began as a menswear line that was young, refreshing, retro and colorful. Her interesting use of materials and uniquely designed prints led to rave reviews and devoted fans asking for a women’s collection.

Launched in 1997, the womenswear collection reflects Albou’s own assertive style and design philosophy in that choosing what you wear is expressing who you are. Albou’s designs are an expression of her creativity that incorporates different tastes from different times. Flamboyant prints on feminine fabrics create a collection of mix-and-match separates that include tailored blazers, trousers, shirts, dresses and skirts.

Since the launch of the label ten years ago, the brand is now carried in over 30 flagship
stores including Paris, London and Tokyo as well as high-end retailers worldwide. International fans of Paul & Joe say Sophie’s clothes make them feel “deliciously happy.” Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Jake Gyllenhaal and Usher are just some of the celebrity names that wear Sophie’s confections.

The ever-evolving brand now includes women’s, men’s, children’s, accessories, beauty and
lingerie lines. Albou’s constant quest for new challenges and creative growth has led to her
collaboration with Target and her collection for GO International™. Her collection is feminine yet bold with jackets, flowy tops, pencil skirts, wrap dresses, cropped pants and skinny denim.

Albou’s signature quirky girlish prints appear on button-down shirts and silk charmeuse tops.
Foxes, owls, and funky cats communicate a playful approach to the season, while chunky cable knit sweaters and ponchos, leather jackets, blazers and cords keep the collection fall ready.

A few things about Sophie Albou

managed to get my paws on teen vogue today, and it's been a positive experience because I didn't care much for the logo sweater nor the owl bag... less to have on my list, then!

At the moment, I have 12 things on my list, but its the leather jacket that bumps up the price, so i'm keen to see what it looks like!
I don't think I'm going to be able to get a copy of shop etc here (will prob find marie claire though) - what's in it of the p&j line?

The sweater reminded me how different things can be when you see the actual Target photos, so maybe I won't bankrupt myself just yet!

in the new issue of US elle with keira knightly on the cover they have a small blurb on the line and a picture of the owl bag. the details on the bag make it look pretty classy actually.

does anyone else notice that the tara stuff doesnt seem to be on sale on target.com? and there seems to be much less tara stuff than there was luella.

i really want the flowered short sleeve top that was in the marie claire.

i think you should be able to get the paul & joe leather jacket on sale, clickmekate. theres tons of luella leather jackets on ebay. i bought mine for 37$ at a target store.
