I used to really like this label a few years ago. I bought quite a lot of it. In the last few seasons it just doesn't interest me at all. Its all flouncy st tropez-esque tops & over-styled pieces. i loved how it used to be quite gamine & retro. Has anyone seen the winter collection as I have heard that its like it used to be....?

i know what you mena...they had a couple of really rough seasons...but the good news is that it didn't sell very well, so they are going back to their more successful look...i think...i haven't seen fall...but what i saw of spring in the showroom was already better...i have the lookbook and there are some adorable little pieces...still girly, but not so frou frou...don't know what pieces the stores actually bought though...it could be that they didn't buy the more classic shirtdress and trenchcoat...

i look forward to seeing what they do next...they had a store around the corner from me for about a minute...but it didn't last very long... :(

i have just a couple of their pieces, but they are very good and people always comment on them... :flower:

i dont think they ever had something special
actually they are a plain mass production label that at some point
choosed to promote in a 'de luxe' attitude.
of course it payed back by adding a certain 'glam' to the label
but didnt improve their design/quality an inch

Men's clothes are appalling, really bad. Euro-camp at it's worst. I agree with you Lena, it's a standard high street brand in terms of design and quality, but the woman has marketed her collections very well. She's basically conned people into thinking it's a designer collection. HAving said that, I do think that Helena's right in saying that it used to be good. Pretty and understated, and yes quite Riveria-esque. But now it seems trashy, almost like European jeans ranges from the 80's like Chipie and Chevignon etc. :yuk:

they do menswear?...i don't think it's available in the US?!?!...

yes & theres a menswear shop in Paris. The menswear is really horrible. really retro which i tend to think is a bad thing for menswear.

Lena - interested by what you say re quality. I have two Paul & joe coats from years ago - with one the quality is good but with the other the wool is really bad - really loose weave so is forever pulling & I have to shave the bobbles off practically every time I wear it. I don't think I've worn it more than ten times because of that. I thnk its really gone downhill.... Although they burn gorgeous Votivo candles in their Paris boutiques - redcurrant I think. Yum!

PAUL & JOE MARK II

SOPHIE ALBOU is making all our New Year dreams come true by launching a diffusion line for her gorgeous Paul & Joe label. Expected to arrive in the Floral Street store by January, the collection – aptly named 'Sister' to go with the main label that is named after Sophie's two sons – is made up of pretty, silky kimono tops, cotton lacy vest 'n' short combos and the standardly pretty P&J printed dresses. And with prices ranging from £60 to £135 or thereabouts, its cause for serious retail celebration. Described as being to Paul & Joe what DKNY is to Donna Karan, Sister will be sold from its own standalone stores in the UK from 2007. Just what we always wanted – and the perfect compliment to the stunning pieces that make up the main line. And in case you're looking for Christmas inspiration, Paul & Joe stores are offering a bespoke shopping service in the Ledbury Road, Brompton Road, Sloane Street and Floral Street stores. Just pop in, sign up and tell the assistant just what you want – then send
