Take Amtrak to NYC...nah just joking
I spent tons of time in Philly for work and get a chance to explore. Downtown Philly has 2 gems for men..... Boyds on Chestnut is probably one of the best stores. Barneys it is not, but they carry Ferragamo, Varvatos, Paul Smith, Brioni AND Kiton, Versace...blah blah.....they have excellent tailors on site and the staff is fairly knowledgeable.....Wayne Edwards is another top store carrying many of the same labels as Boyds but also Prada, RL Purple Label.....Joan Shepp is a womens boutique that many love although me and the Mrs. weren't too impressed....Vagabond was a boutique my wife really loved..very unique......One thing with shopping in Philly is that its fairly concentrated within a few prime blocks and self contained.....
Walnut St is Phillys poor attempt at being Fifth Ave. You will find chains like BR, Ken Cole and then spots like Paris Europa which carries higher end items....The downtown area does not have a good dept store...Lord and Taylor being pretty much it....
There's a huge mall called King of Prussia which many love, but besides the Neimans there I would stick to exploring the shops in center and old city......if you are in Philly for awhile then you will likely make your way out to King of Prussia. Its not bad...Neimans, Nordstrom, Macys, Bloomies, Lord & Taylor....but its just a mall......albeit a big one...
