Proenza Schouler for Target

Thanks for the info... after I tried SO hard to use the correct term...

Does anyone have any idea how small these items are going to run? This is what Target's website says:

"• Available in Design Sizes (Tend to Run Small)"

Just how much smaller will they be? Should I size up to be safe?

i'm an american size 6 and i always get the size 7s and the size mediums.

I'm usually a size 1/xs in target. I bought a bunch of things from the Behnaz collection, and I found the sizing to be a bit inconsistent. For example, I bought the plum strapless cocktail dress with the lace waist, as well as the white strapless cocktail with the grosgrain waist and bow detail. Both were a size 1, and the plum dress fit me perfectly whereas the white dress was waaaaaaaaaaaay too tight.

Now I'm nervous about preordering from Target's website since I'm afraid that everything I get will be too small. But at the same time, I would hate it if the things that I want sell out! :(

Darn it, Target, give us some actual measurements! Sigh!

Making Money in Multiples

By ERIC WILSON

FAST fashion collections like those of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Isaac Mizrahi have brought good design to the masses, but what have they brought to designers?

“Obviously, it’s cash,” said Jack McCollough, half of the designing duo behind the ultraducky label Proenza Schouler, which Target will begin selling next month. Instead of $1,525 jackets at Bergdorf Goodman, it will be $39.99 cotton blazers at Target — oh, the bliss of economy of scale.

“We’re a small company, and we need all the income we can get,” Mr. McCollough said. “It’s also really great exposure.”

Mr. McCollough and his design partner, Lazaro Hernandez, are so enamored with their Target collection that for four days, beginning Feb. 2, they plan to transform the Opening Ceremony store in SoHo into a pop-up Proenza Schouler for Target boutique. Humberto Leon, an owner of the store, said he will begin selling the luxury Proenza Schouler line in Los Angeles when an Opening Ceremony store is opened there in April.

Like the Luella Bartley and Behnaz Sarafpour collections that have been sold at Target, the Proenza Schouler line could be described as representing the best of their past hits: a palm print skirt for $24.99, a hooded cotton anorak for $39.99, a silk camisole with trapunto topstitching for $49.99.

Designing for Target and for other projects — a watch for Movado, a camera case for Hewlett-Packard — has enabled Mr. McCollough and Mr. Hernandez to develop their business more quickly than most fashion upstarts. With their business partner, Shirley Cook, they recently bought out their sole investor, Markus Höfels, a private venture capitalist in Berlin. They also signed a license to create sunglasses with L’amy, the French eyewear company, which they will show in September.

By now, designers like Mr. McCollough and Mr. Hernandez have figured out how to differentiate their work so as not to turn off those who prefer their Proenza Schouler at Bergdorf. The focus of their Target line is day wear, with bright colors, cotton sweatshirts and pajama-inspired tops. New for Target is a Proenza Schouler crest, printed on sweatshirts, with the silhouette of an Italian greyhound (based on an office regular named Baloney) encircled in a laurel wreath.

“That kind of stuff is easier to make a little richer,” Mr. McCollough said. “It’s hard to make a cheaper lace look expensive.”

thank you dosviolines. i think this line is great pracrice for PS to make a permanment younger line similar to marc by marc jacobs.

i plan to go on that saturday...to try stuff on. i'd rather buy online for the 10% discount and free shipping.

i wonder if there are any PS for target billboards in NYC yet.

in the new issue of nylon with sienna miller on the cover theres a blurb about the line and a pic of a model wearing the blue silk bustier, purple pencil skirt and tank.

theres a pic of the grey italian greyhound sweater in the new issue of jane with mandy moore on the cover.

i too was curious about the sizes, and im a bit concerned about ordering online too and then the things not fitting and me not ebing able to get them in another size :(

anyone have a picture of this ''silk camisole with trapunto topstitching''?

Now that I've seen the pieces I'm really impressed! I'm gonna pick up a few things for work because they will definitely work for me. Some of the swimwear is ugly but I like the basics.

you meant you saw them IRL?

some resellers already have them on ebay...a lot of target stores had the behnaz items a week early...i bet a lot of stores are going to put out their PS items early.

jun3, i think a good strategy would be to order 2 sizes and return what you dont want...i think it might be necessary for PS.

gius, check shoplocal.com and seard for "proenza schouler silk" and what you are looking for should come up...

Holy smokes! Is it possible that the Grape Juice Silk Bustier Top is already sold out???

^^How could it be if the line isn't out yet? can you order online??
eeee i hope it's not sold out.
