Raf Simons Leaving Christian Dior; Maria Chiuri Rumored In

More like he was let go and someone took the opportunity to snap him up. But who that is you will never guess!

Why not just say what the situation is? You seem to posses a wealth of knowledge, yet you continue to stir the pot..

YES. I am SO happy for this. I hope they choose someone with a better vision for Dior. The world is righting itself.

Didn't expect him to leave now but I'm not reamly surprised nor sad. I love Raf but he never felt completely at ease at Dior. I think it's actually a smart move to stop it before it got really tragic. On paper it seemed bold but exciting , yet it simply didn't work. There was too much pressure, responsabilities and constraints for him. Apart from that magnificent first couture show, his work felt really unsure.

I wish he would solely focus on his own brand and why not develop womenswear. We saw at Jil that there is a "Raf woman" , he just couldn't fullfil it at Dior. I hope LVMH doesn't screw up with his replacement.

Really intrigued to see what's next for him. Since it seems like he's going to another house , maybe Miuccia will step down and he'll take over at Prada/Miu Miu. Now that would be a REAL shocker. Otherwise maybe Calvin Klein because Francisco Coasta really needs to go. Though it is predictable to want him to go back to a minimalist house.

Who I would LOVE to see take the reigns is Olivier T. He would breathe the LIFE back into Dior's couture.

I would be shocked if his name was even up for consideration. I love Olivier and he's a very skilled designer, but honestly he hasn't been relevant for like, a decade? His vision goes opposite to everything the industry wants right now: something modern, commercial and with youth appeal. He would suffer even more than Raf to walk in LVMH's lines. Also, I don't think he maintained enough of a cult following like Slimane to have people longing for a big comeback.

Thank goodness! Raf is a great designer, but he was never a good fit at Dior. It just didn't work.

Olivier Theyskens is the only designer who could take Dior and make it romantic AND modern....his work is so delicate and fragile, but he's able to take historical references, knock the stuffing out of it, and make it light as air. And he is absolutely a master couturier...his clothing is and always has been impeccibly made and fabricated.

If not Theyskens, I would hope they'd go with an unknown. I'd hate to see Tisci at Dior, and shuffling Philo around too just seems like a big WHY?

I too want olivier at Dior, and maybe raf back at jil sander or at his own women's wear line. I would prefer him at balenciaga but that got filled already. I wonder if jen lawrence will get to keep her dior contract now

So you want Haider-Gianfranco-Ferré-wannabe-Ackermann or Tisci at Dior, cool. Riccardo has been irrelevant since his first contact with the Kartrashians and all he can do is a sweatshirt. He lost his couture touch to me. And Haider, oh, Haider... his work would be awesome at Chanel, but I think Dior needs someone, who can do modern clothes and romantic at the same time. Can Haider take Dior's codes and remake them? Who knows, but to me this brand deserves someone better like Theyskens.

I'm glad someone pointed out that Tisci has long since lost his touch, and it would be the Kardashians infiltrating the hallowed house of dior. Haider Ackerman, I like him but honestly he's very one note and also more fitting of chanel. Theyskens is perfect, lacroix is ok but too old school, everybody else isn't really that great

I agree with other members in here who have posted that despite Mr Simons not looking entirely at ease during his tenure at Dior, I felt that Dior was much more visible beyond the runway with his collections under his direction. A lot of his pieces – although considered too 'safe' – were wearable but still special enough to stand out when celebrities didn't want to wear a haute couture gown to an event.

Good lord people need to stop with that kind of attitude. When we have information but can't completely reveal them, there is a REASON behind it. That's nice enough of Mutterlein to give hints, so let's be thankful and leave it at that.

Everything that was said on his spring 2016 was true. I mean, as i said earlier, when you have the creative direction of a house like Dior and that your RTW is so disconnected to all the others area of the house..it smells bad.

He cannot work for a big house. Karl has that kind of contract at Chloé when he started working with Chanel.
Call me crazy but i feel like he can comeback to Jil or take Helmut Lang. He has so much admiration for the house and it can be good for them.

For Dior? Riccardo Tisci is the ideal candidate. He knows couture, his RTW is popular, he is a big name and have a loyal clientele. I think he will take Dior. He is the best candidate really.

Maybe Olivier T can take over Givenchy or one of the finalist of that infamous LVMH prize.
I think LVMH might use their ressources from the LVMH prize.

I wasn't really a fan of Raf at Dior so i'm not sad.

Really? I beg he goes minimalist brand like CK. He flourished at Jil Sander when he was there.

He would have been a really good choice for Balenciaga.

Tisci for Dior sounds completely wrong for me. He is like done with the fashion world, no? He run out of ideas a while ago and he is burnt as a designer. I really doubt it's him.

I doubt Philo would accept so much work...

I doubt they will go for an unknown...

In my wishful thinking I imagine Ghesquière doing incredible Haute Couture shows and beyond chic and urban rtw ones. But that will never happen.

I don't know and I'm curious. I need to know.

I agree with the part that He may not have a strong fanbase yearning for him but, I disagree when You say He isn't capable to do comercial clothes for a more young clientele; especially if You see the pre-collections He designed for Theyskens' theory, which had a very "street" attitude and appeal. I think He could be an interesting choice because He has the necessary things to keep a good balance between RTW and HC.

What would Tisci really bring to the table at this point? Nothing. He has been at Givenchy for 10 years... That time has seen him branding himself so thoroughly that it would just feel really empty to see him try and transform himself into a Dior version of Givenchy. It would be like Galliano at MM... Not a trace of lightness or the unexpected, just carrying the load of his old work and achievements to a new house.

His stuff for the Theory thingy were commercial, yes, but they also weren't very remarkable or exciting, hence why the whole project flopped.

^^ I don't think it's fair to place the blame of Theyskens Theory's success - or lack thereof - entirely on Olivier. It was always a bit of a left field pairing, and the Theory customer just isn't there for high fashion offerings from a high fashion perspective. But what Olivier actually designed, I think, proved he could be more commercial and design with a more street sensibility..all the while retaining that clear, recognizable and unique point of view that he possesses. I find his creativity and vision to be so pure that he can make the most commercial or the most couture garment and still be recognizably Olivier.

Such sad news. The only reason I liked the Dior house.

But very curious to see where he's headed now.

I second the Olivier T hopes. Really, he left fashion because he lost all hopes. I want him back. Dior needs someone with technique and know-how. And please some minimalism. The Galliano years were cool and all but not for Dior. Galliano wasn't Dior and I hope they agree with me.

But my biggest fear is Wang. Dear lord, not Wang. Everyone but Wang.

I don't think there's a suitable candidate for Dior now.Even I'm not a fan of Raf,but feel a little bit sad about he leaving Dior.
I worry about Dior now.Even I want John back at the moment but I know it can't be true.

Oh...My Dior. My Christian Dior. Gonna live within the old fashion dream.
