this marc dress looks like a towel wrapped to me. it's still nice.

thx for posting atelier...
sounds like they know what they're doing...

gucci formula successful...don't fix what's not broken...

ysl not working...revert back to original ysl style...

i like that gold sequin top from gucci...it's more like the early days when gucci had a looser more bohemian feel to it...quite nice...imo... :flower:

umm...it's also very much like a low v nk top with gold sequins that i got at topshop :ninja: wish i had a pic..

Gucci... I'm not expecting much since it's a resort collection, but (from the photos posted) it's okay for me. Though, it could be better. The sequined top is the best piece from the group pic.

It'll be interesting to see how AF handles the high voltage glamour of the main Gucci collections, I think that's what it's really going to come down to. She's not really changing the course all that much but at some point in time she's going to have to make a visual separation from TF's worldly, hyper sexualized point of view. I honestly don't think women would personally dress themselves or design for themselves in that manner anyway, which may be a crude generalization but probably an appropriate one, considering she was simply a medium for his efforts anyway. It's going to be a very, very interesting time at Gucci with a powerful woman designing for powerful women in a way that differs greatly from what Prada or D. Versace are currently doing.

Gucci.... hm not bad at all* , thanks Atelier :flower:

*regarding that the looks are channeled towards the Gucci customer..

 did the resort collections used to come out sooner/later...i always thought they came out around december...or is that just when they hit the stores?

yah...i'd like to see if anything changes since it's coming from a woman's perpective now...i think it will still be high octane SEX...because that's the gucci market...but that gold top is already a departure...i want to see the rest... :flower:

Um, Gucci's nothing special, except or that beige dress, it doesn't seem to be anything great. Those tassel belts are nice, but that doesn't seem very "Gucci" to me, it's a little to boho/artsy. Those white pants look like something from the s/s 04 collection, so does the grey jacket, overall considering they worked so closely with Ford, I expected a bit more then this.

What pisses me off is, that I designed some stuff that looks a lot like those pieces from Gucci  esp. the shoes

I like the new Gucci very much. My second favorite would be YSL. The new designers did not change anything fundamental. Actually, the Gucci resort collection is quite refined. I love the bold colors, the trappings, and how the whole look comes off less aggressive than before. It's great! YSL... Great shapes, but the colors are too muted. Still, quite good compared to Marc Jacobs.

I don't get it, how can you say that the designer didn't change anything fundamental but it came off less aggrassive......that's what Gucci's always been, aggressively sexy, somewhat fundamental in the Gucci vocabulary wouldn't you say?

It's still sexy, but less aggressive and more refined. The design elements are still there: corset details/trappings, bold colors, but I think the corset influence is less literal and the choice of colors is better.

I do like Tom Ford and think his shows are a joy to watch. You do not have to be a visionary designer to turn out a great collection. IMHO, Tom Ford struck gold with the YSL's gypsy collection AW01 and the Kimono collection for Gucci AW02 and showed how to be sexy in ethnically influenced clothes. And I like how his collections all have a clearly defined theme. Aside from the Gypsy and the Kimono, Gucci's Babydoll (AW01) and Kimono-Mini (SS03), and YSL's Tuxedo (AW01), Urban Sarafi (SS02), and Velvet (AW02) are all quite good.

anyone remember a company called naf naf...french...big in the eighties...i have a dress from them that i bought in nice,france...in the early 90's...that i swear is just like this, but in blue...it was a very popular look...anyone else know what i'm talking about...this is a total knock off...but i obviously like it...because i already own a version of it... ...love the rolled up pants as well...i've been doing that with my white cargos... :innocent: [/b][/quote]
I happen to have a purple, blue and black fleece from when I was about eight which I bought in France by a company called Naf Naf (or so I would assume as it's written in big letters on the back)...it could be the same company...

I'm liking what loserunit calls the 'towel-dress' :P

You mentioned some of my favorite TF collections, the Goth/Kimono collection, the Mini/Kimono collection, the Safari, Tux, Gypsy and as I call it, the "Budoir collection", but I like your name for it too :flower:

I do find myself wondering though if, now that Ford is gone, Gucci will continue with it's trademark high-octane glam/sex driven clothing. Also, more recently, Ford began to really produce the show, he really played with the atmosphere, the set, the overall presentation, I wonder if Gucci will scale back now :(

hmm gucci is not to bad, like the white shoes and the gold top i sok, but it seems exactly like tom so no big surprise

i liek the marc collection, its veyr cute, probably my favorite

mine as well space ;)

regarding Gucci, like softgrey said, the gold top is a departure from their usual style, as for 'agressive sexy' the whole idea seems very dated while fashion is moving towards a new more sensual 'covered' era
