Resort 05

None of the individual pieces in the Miu Miu looks stand out to me, but I really like the two outfits overall. :)

Sharp observation, Lena!

But I do like Prada and their past resort collections.
Chloe's brown dress looks good too, even though not original.

Zac Posen resort

Resort, according to the designer, is about “creating your own tribe,” mixing different cultural references — whether African, Thai, or classic preppy — in order to “bring out the artist in every woman.”

For some reason I find it a bit presumptious when designers like Pozen and Lam do resort. I'm like you've only been around for a couple season. a)don't overstretch yourself doing too many collections when you aren't used to it. b)do they have the very strong clientele who would order resort mid-december? They have a definate clientele but I'm not sure it's enough and c)gah, they are fresh and young and new. Who even knows if they'll still be around in a couple years and here they are doing resort!!

sorry had to get that out. Wang is so blech is my opinion. I love the right Prada, I can't see that well but it looks to have some sort of boning or something. Anyway I think it's interesting. Nothing is really striking me though.

  seems like Zac Poser recited by heart the Bureaux de Style trend predictions for ss05 ... which he doesnt even embody that well ...

poor soul, he should try and get his own style without focusing so much on mass production trend directions :innocent:

sad to say, i dont like Zac's, Vera's or Mr Valli's takes on resort :ninja:

thanks for the updates atelier :flower:

ps: i agree with softgrey, i so dont relate to resort but i need to see ALL of it for business, so i follow as if i'm planing winter vacations to Mauritius :ninja:

Couldn't agree with you more Lena. None of what Zac did looks like what he described, but overall this resort season is very boring, so it's no surprise to me that his is as well.

I've only liked one or two looks and a few ideas or pieces, but overall I'm completely disappointed.

No runway shows, no star-packed crowds, no media frenzy: The archaically named resort season may not get the kind of attention commanded by fall and spring, but it's a serious business that's growing by leaps and bounds. As Michael Kors (echoing the sentiments of many designers) put it, resort is now "bigger than spring." Each year, established houses and new names alike (incoming this season: Zac Posen, Derek Lam, Balenciaga, Rochas) hold informal showroom viewings, scheduled fairly randomly throughout June. And with the pressure off, designers seem to relax, turning out collections full of effortlessly charming items, elegant evening looks, and sexy swimwear. Here, our roundup of some of the best pieces seen this month in New York.

Hourglass silhouettes and luscious details: At Prada, Carolina Herrera, and elsewhere, the eighteenth century merged beautifully with today.
