The decision he made, even if in a distraught time, is something I will have to learn to respect. Perhaps, I am selfish, but I am already thinking of the fantastical experiences that his shows always brought that we will never again experience. So much of his genius that we will never see. He has left a long and hallow void that will be very hard to fill. I know that is said for many when they pass away but in regard to Mcqueen it is an understatement.

British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has died, his company has said.

McQueen, 40, was found dead at his London home on Thursday morning (February 11). UK’s Daily Mail is reporting that McQueen committed suicide as he was found hanging in his apartment in the Green Park area.

A statement from his family was released: “Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

This is a big blow to the fashion community as he truly was a revolutionary designer. Is it a coincidence that this happened at the start of NY Fashion Week? One of his contemporary lines, McQ, was set to be shown this afternoon. McQueen also was scheduled to show his new designer collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 9.

Our deepest condolences go out to McQueen’s family and friends.

What surprises me even more is he was able to make it this far.

It's crazy what capitalism pushes us too, it was probably an indirect cause of his suicide. Pressure to produce art under such restrictive conditions is impossible for someone who favors creativity over profits.

my friend Ale texted me the news and I cudnt believe it .... and just yesterday I left behind my mcqueen scarf at a friends for the first time ever ... Im still in shock and cant even begin to say how this sad makes me ... now whats gonna happen to its house???

Who will design? Siriano? lol ... no honest ... I can not think of anyone doing it like he did .... he was unique!!!!
