Rock 'n' Roll Style / Rocker Chic

Tsunami, to each his own, I guess - a suit to me is a submissive uniform wron by the grey people. A rock musician wearing it is perverting the meaning of rock music.

i can think of many cool Mod looks involving a kitsch suit:heart: . i still think it rocksB) but we cant all think alike, right? the world would be such a boring place if that were the case, dahhhhhhhling (the last darling thing to be said in a very queer tone of voice:D ).

Sonny, great Pete Doherty story!

oh tangerine, glad you like my story. it was not that interesting but i really had to speak my mind as i think Pete is so very much overrated... esp. after seeing his ugly looks, pathetic clothing and his lack of musical skills...

i could tell many other rock stories but i dont want to sound like an old granny telling her grandsons about them so i will just mention them if it is necessary and on topic!:D

Grey people? i think that grey ppl dont necessarily have to dress in suits... there are many grey ppl in the world... even onstage! i mean, sometimes the clothes do not make the man... it is brains and wittiness which makes a person (a boy or a girl) bright in my eyes.... not the fact they wear suits or not. and i dont see many david bowie lookalikes in the streets (unfortunately) so in that sense i bet we are all rather grey ourselves...

time for me to watch some telly now... that is what i get for being grey myself, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!!!

oh
myyyy
gaawwdDD!!!

faust.
you made my day. That is the very most worse image in the world of work.
If I ate a pile of maggots festering in a rotting dead cat, vomited it up, boiled it down to resin, smoked it, and then repeated that action for 20 years... I wouls still, I'm sure have more, self worth then if I spotted myself in that photo. Oh no. My my.
so sad.
haha.
anyways.
yeah but a dude in a hot suit is still killer. If it's done right. you know.
I love the contrast form the suits to the ann Dem photos. it gives me a weird feeling.

fun thread, and thanks t fairy for all the ann Dem photos.
TANG would you wear Ann dem??? just curious. But yeah your right I shouldnt say I cant see myself wearing her. I think I'll change that to I could. I like the look.

isnt it funny the hottest girl (just loosly speaking) K Moss, ends up dating, a total loser like that. This world is strange in deed.

more stories sonny more more more

:woot: i'm subconsiously following a trend, but i wont let it go, not yet anyway
i have a leather jacket almost like the one Alex posted but mine is from tyhe oldest 'traditional' bikers store in London.. its a Lewis Leather Original that i've been wearing only too often during the last two seasons.. it just matches with everything, hope i can wear the jacker for at least one more season before i see old school biker jackets all over the place

love the 'official' return of the rock'n'roll/swing/cool cats scene.. total fun, a scream and so NON pretentious

helena, thanks for the merge, Hanne thanks for bringing this up, twillight thanks for the side note :flower:

How do you wear a biker jacket without your look becoming too total (if you know what I mean).... my style is a fusion of rock - punk elements and although I bought at least 3 biker jackets from Ebay and tried too many times to get one from Camden Market (my efforts goes back to 10 years ago), whenever I put one on, I look like I belong to Hell's Angels.... It makes me look too hard-core (which I dislike)... I haven't tried it with a dress yet (my last hope) but I would really like to be able to wear a biker jacket with my jeans and not look like an angry teenager....

I'm furious with this because I can wear a tea-dress and make it look rock n rollish and can't wear a biker jacket without looking like a try-hard wannabe....

twilight fairy please credit your pics

But how do you credit them if I've haved them saved on my computer for months?..:(

Anyhow I think most pictures are from style.com, rafsimons.com, thecobrasnake.com ..

I dont know. Ask softgrey. She knows everything. But a pic would help.
I think it should be possible.
Or it cold just be the wrong jackets. Every jacket has it's own cut. Maybe a slightly differnt cut would help....?
what do you think?

Most vintage jackets have similar a cut... there is something wrong with the way the fall on the shoulders... Thanks for your post...:flower: Softgrey does seem to know everything doesn't she?;) I hope she's kind enough to give me some advise....although I'm not sure that this is the right thread for it... maybe I should post into the one asking advise on how to wear different items... I just wanted to get advise from the real rock n roll guys though, rather from just anyone.... :flower: .

OK. I will stop it here ^_^

no, I am loving it, could dress like that (ahem, some of that) every day.
But I was trying to post some pics from the October (?) issue of ZInk, and the mag web-site doesn't allow me to. So I have to be content with checking the beautiful pictures you guys are posting...

I bloody love this thread as well....

Funny thing about the rock and roll look is... it always looks better on me in my imagination than when i actually wear it, ha, ha.. it can get a bit frustrating really.

also i then see myself in the mirror and realise i look like one of those i find so ridiculous... plus i often ask myself whether i should keep on dressing like this being 32... but i just cant picture myself looking like a proper thirty something girl would do.... it would make me feel so, so, so old...:(

This is one of my favourite dresses ever by Jil Sander spring 2003

(style.com)

They had this dress on Yoox last time I looked (about 3 weeks ago). Maybe gone now, but it wasn't that expensive if memory serves.
