scandinavianchic: I think those pics represent in a good way how people dress in Norway. That is, not average people, but people interested in clothes and fashion

I think scandinavia has a pretty good street style going on.. we are totally different from the parisian street style and therefore you can not really compare which is more "stylish". you also have to remember that scandinavian people are different. a lot of people like simple cuts and durable fabrics..we also have a limited sources to high end designers here in scandinavia where as in paris and london they are available everywhere..

average joe or jane in any country would be probably a person wearing flared jeans and print t-shirt...or something boring like that. im just glad there is a street scene that stands away from this style and has something unique going on...

and yes, hel-looks favours a certain kind of indie crowd but that is just cause the photographers most likely dig that style themselves..i think its cool that finland is getting the indie vibe, its something what i see here in l.a. street scene a lot and i really like it...

i agree with miss60

hel-looks presents one street style in finland, so it should be remembered that there are lots of people that dress differently from that. the difference can been seen for example those pics from finland that have not been posted from hel-looks.

this indierock style is coming slowly to finland and actually the same "vibe" can be sensed from those pics that were posted from norway. in the end i think that even in norway there might be people that dress the similar to hel-looks and then again in finland those people that dress the similar those norwegian that were in the pics

Why are all the Norwegian people so fit? Are they really as fit in general as the pictures show? We Finns seem to be so lazy compared to others.

And at the moment they're all wearing mini skirts and black or white leggings - the "summer uniform" here in Aalborg (and anywhere else in Denmark for that matter)

I see stylish peeps in Helsinki almost everyday, but it's not this fashion/scene type of thing so it doesn't end up in hel-looks. There are international people with money in Helsinki and some of them have style. Not that different from Paris or NYC street looks, but the average Finn has to do with chains, buy vintage or make their own clothing. It's the same all aorund the world.

Our downfall is the long winter: we are pasty and chunky. Brazilians can wear anything and we hardly care looking at the long, lean bodies, lol.

i agree..especially in the winter its hard to have personal style when a heavy wintercoat is covering us up...thats why i love summer..

im currently working in LA until october.. so i get to see the streetstyle here.. and in fact, its very similar to helsinki looks..they just got better vintage availability here.. hehe

^I lived in the US for almost ten yrs (in Cali as well) that's why I asked. Now I'm back in Finland. I'm jealous you can combine both! My job doesn't allow for that (at least not at the moment).

There are damn many beautiful norwegians (and scandinavians in general) out there.
I read an article once, who said the people you spotted in Norway who were overweight, probably were tourists
Makes me proud to be norwegian, especially today on our national day!

i'm coming to the conclusion that norwegian style is so much better than swedish. well swedes are trendy but pretty plain when it comes to style.. please post more pics from norway

if i could get a camera i would go round the town and take pictures.. although it would be quite similar with all.. well anyways maybe i'll try someday so you would see the "mainstream" style (or the reality )
