I suppose it may be for the trailer or posters or similar - just like the book had Nanny as a modern Mary Poppins on it's cover, it may also serve as a metaphore. I just hope they won't go too literally into the flying umbrella thing...

They are actually changing quite a lot in the movie. They've invented almost all the supporting characters and changed the names of the ones they kept. They're also completely changing the ending. In the movie, Nanny also isn't a college student, and she's renamed Annie.
