I also have a RL boys one. As far as sizing, just trying them on would be best. The cuts on them are pretty good overall, for a girl except for the two parts which differ greatly from a female to a boy... chest and shoulders. so just try them on, I'd say... and you will most likely find one which works for you.

Any suggestions to where I could find a perfect navy one?
I have been looking for a while but I can't find one and the weather is perfect for wearing one right now .

i've changed my mind. i find some of my best things in the boy's section at the secondhand stores nowadays. once in awhile i wander in to the men's, but the sizing is so off.

i finally found the red check button down i'd been looking for in the boy's dept.

I have bought so much resently from h&m kids..i would buy the odd pieces from the mens sections too if i thort they would fit me but they would drown me .. i buy mens hoodies as the sleeves are longer etc. and they really do drown me.. greta for just slobbing around in

my little brother always borrows my clothes haha ..he thinks my tee's fit better as he likes them tight and hell rob my skinnys if non of his are clean.. :ninja:

and people say its only sisters that are the problem

There's a shop in Brighton which sells kids (and adults clothes), and I brought a sweater and a few t-shirts in kids sizes that fit great. It works out so much cheaper if you can buy stuff from the kids deparment!

Well ... :innocent: I had in mind not so much a RuPaul thread, but a thread about those of us who buy something intended for the opposite gender. I know we have lots of members who do this ... men who buy a plain women's bag, or a women's jacket ... or a brooch ... and then wear it with other stuff from the men's department. Women who buy things in the boys' department, either because it suits their figure better, or it's cheaper ... women who wear their boyfriends' clothes. Women who buy Dior Homme. We have a thread about shopping in departments other than your own, but I think this is a bit different ...

Just starting a thread we'd talked about in Men in Skirts ... have you bought & worn something designed for the opposite sex? I'm pretty sure the only thing I have is Angel for Men Pure Coffee (yum), but my little great-aunt used to buy all her jeans in the boys' department. She loved telling people about it too, not sure why  She also wore a man's gold and diamond ring. Come to think of it, I used to wear my grandfather's signet ring (child size) on my pinkie ... it was beautifully worn, and then one day, I'm pretty sure it broke ... :(

Share your stories of crossing over here ... ;)

Yes I've worn my sister's and mother's sweaters/shirts for some time now :D And also sister's skinny jeans and beige shorts. They fit me so well, better than those in the same size (or smaller size) for men at the store. And not just women's clothes, but children's clothes (my sister is 14 years) --I like them also because of the fit.
Plus my mother's clothes often come in interesting fabrics and colours, so I am drawn to them. They are probably closer to unisex in design --that they are for women isn't so obvious at all.

It feels nice though knowing you are wearing something intended for someone else. I find myself a tad more exciting.

I wear sailor jerry's aftershave as a perfume a lot! I loved it so much on my fiance that I bought myself a bottle :P It's a musky spiced rum smell.

I wear mens' vests, ties, suspenders, and pocket watches etc....those are usually the only mens' clothing items I can get to fit. I also have a pair of navy pinstripe old man pants that i hemmed into capri's. I'm sure there's more floating around in my closet but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Boys button down shirts are the best. So comfy and they fit perfectly...buttoning with the opposite hand take some getting used to, though!

The Boy got me hooked on The Art of Shaving sandalwood shaving cream. I use it on my legs--it lathers so nicely and leaves behind a gorgeous, sensual scent...mmmm

I also recently received a men's watch as a gift (my idea). I love it, but I had to get 4 links removed just so it wouldn't fall off my wrist!

I have some stuff from the men's department. a blue button down shirt, and a neon green one (don't know what kind of men would pull this one off!), a blue cardigan that has black and white stripes inside , a blue blazer and a pair of brown wool pants that I needed as shorts, I was fantasizing on a pair of thick, wool shorts about 4 years ago and I spotted these pants in the men's area of a thrift store, and just had to buy them.. they're loose but a little stiff.. gold buttons, I love them.
Also love men's watches too, but that's a dream that hasn't come true yet. :p
I find menswear a bit more expensive but also more carefully finished and detailed..

good idea,ta-ta!

yeah,i've worn a vintage YSL batwing jacket(which i donated my friend's charity)...an a.f. vandevorst cardi...women's jewellery and plenty of other stuff that i can only dream to wear right now!!

In the fragrance department, I am indiscriminate. I probably wear as many or more "women's" fragrances as men's. Classic women's fragrances like Bandit, Mitsouko, Tabac Blond are more "rough" than most modern men's fragrances, anyway.

I am pretty sure I have bought and worn women's shirts and jeans without knowing it in various disorganized stores.

^ Too funny

You guys have reminded me that I also have a vintage man's watch. I have a ladies' one too (Deco with diamonds), but I wanted a rose gold tank watch, and those were strictly for men back in the day ... it has a pigskin strap that I quite like  As vintage watches will, it isn't ticking at the moment--I should get it repaired now that you guys have made me want to wear it again ;)

Interesting you guys like men's watches :) I always find them too clunky... While at the quay here, there was a booth selling watches and the lady kept telling me I was choosing the 'wrong' ones.. the women's ones. I like how they're much thinner and lighter

ahah ta-ta ... nice to see this thread ....
i'll have to post this link in the men's bags section .... ;)

for my part, i used to buy women bags and clutches .... i stopped wearing these like 2yrs ago, but i still keep my collection and sometimes feed it ....

i also have a few brooch that i wear with men jackets or coats ....

and i wear Chanel#5, Heure Bleue and some patchouli scent once in a while ... but mostly on scarf or just to make my outfits have a strong (patchouli / #5) or sensual (heure bleue) scent ....

ooouuuhh i love this thread.

I think gender on skin care and frags is delusional. It simply marketing plan called market focus. So, i wear many women's frags and skincare just because of their quality not preferences. I also wear kalung (big tribal necklace like a shaman) and handbags ;)

Arabian mens wear eye-liner to make their eyes look bold and stronger (not to mention the kilt on Scottish)

^ You're right about marketing ... did you know Marlboros were originally a women's cigarette? I have to laugh to myself when I see the macho men pulling them out ... fooled by advertising ;)

gius, I agree about watches now ... however, for a tank watch, the one today that would be a woman's watch is a man's vintage watch. Women's watches from the 30s are teeny tiny, often on a black cord band. My ladies' watch is very much like my grandmother's, but fancier.

PS I think women's scarves are another item that men here buy ... it can be hard sometimes to find a winter scarf that's not boring.
