Sneaker / Denim junkies

It's a shame really because streetwear is stuck in a rut at the moment , everyone seems to be following the NIGO/BAPE business model. It's no longer about the product but the money , how many colours you can fit on a single piece of fabric , how many ideas can you exhaust for an all over print , graphics that look like they were ripped from clipart or getty images and screenprinted as cheaply as possible. It's changed from "I'm going to wait in line because I really love his artwork and he designed these sneakers" to "I'm going to wait in line because regardless of whether I like the shoe or not it gives me cred , it gives me kudos". Waiting online for the latest digitalgravel update or shipment that's just not fun to me that's sad. A culture where graffiti , hiphop , skaters , outsider art all co-exist should rely on more than just tired tricks and flash in a pan gimmicks.
yeah- i get that feeling too...
and i'm not even really into it...

your totally right. there are so many random tee shirt lines that look like they came from urban outfitters. no longer coveted art pieces.

UrbanOutfitters and H&M often rip designs directly though , not so much UO in the UK as they tend to focus more on concessions but H&M do it frequently , I know they're not streetwear although they do bridge the gap and have a broad appeal as well but just as an example H&M have got a Commes Des Garcon t-shirt in at the moment it's an exact copy of their heart face design.

If you are interested in finding out more (I haven't read it myself yet I've picked it up and flicked through it a few times but I don't know I feel uneasy just doing that but nature of streetwear means that someone has to document it) then check out a book by a writer called Steven Vogel.

umm I think your kind of mixing concepts here. as far as straight up street wear, I think Complex is much more oriented towards that direction. Nylon Guys is a somewhat confusing mixture of high fashion, street wear and hipster style, but its definately not a "streetwear bible".

some can be purely dubbed as "hypebeasts"
sneaker and denim fetish just for the sake of having a sneaker and denim fetish, despite the fact that sometimes their little air forces and dunks have the worst color pattern, along with their bape hoodie, but it's okay because it's "streetwear"

^ should help explain.
but then again some pull it off very nicely

I don't take any guy seriously if he wears those combinations and calls it streetwear. Urgh.

Did anyone ever read don'tbelievethehypebeast ? It was so funny...
