:buzz: :buzz: BRILLIANT, the first wash pics!!! :buzz: :buzz:

So with the cold wash did you use any detergent? Was this the first 'Official Wash', or were you hoping to just freshen them a bit whilst losing as little indigo as possible?

The colour after the wash is much nicer, I love how they're sitting behind your knees, they seem to be coming along nicely. Will you do a hotter wash later on, or are you wanting to keep them dark? They look fantastic.. I think I'll try for keeping a darker look on my Tight Long Johns when I wash them.

Thanks ^_^

The cold wash was just water. It was a soak to tighten the fit and fix the inseam and other parts. You can tell by how it hugs by body post-soak.

I think, at nearly 2 months, that the creases are coming along great. I may do a warm/hot soak for 1 hour to get it shrunk back to a tighter fit. So far the indigo looks dark as hell still, and I like it that way.

We'll see in a few months I suppose... :D

You're right, they do look tighter post-wash. Is that why you bought such a long inseam, because of the shrink? I know you can pull the inseam back out whilst they're still wet, but I went to a 34" inseam on my Slim Kims thinking that I might let the inseam shrink back a bit to my 33" leg length if I wanted.

Actually I went to a 34" because the 32" were somehow WAY too short, but the 34" measures up at 35". Guess they've given me plenty of room for shrinkage!

Are these the first dry's you've owned?

It's such a long inseam because that's the set length of most Japanese denim brands. They only make a few lengths, if not only 36" or 38".

The 2 hour soak left it at 35.5", but I am 5'11", and the stack looks good in my opinion.

Tagged length can be deceiving. Mine were measured 37" inseam even though tagged was 36". I own APC New Standards and Dior Homme 19cm black raws as well.

Does anyone own the Acne jeans I posted above, here?

I'm dying to get them, but am unsure how the sizing compares to Nudie, especially given the tight cut and how the page says the dry denim is thick. If anyone who owns a pair of Acne jeans (whatever style) in this dry black could tell me, I'd be muchly obliged! :flower:
I currently own four pairs of Acne jeans and I can tell you that they run smaller than Nudie. Personally, I do not own a pair of Nudie, they've never caught my interest, but I've tried them on. Acne fits smaller in my opinion.

In fact, if you ask me then Acne jeans are superior to almost any other jeans right now. They are by far my farvorites...

Sidneylo, you're so lucky to have a bathtub in your appartment. Wish I had one...for soaking jeans only, hah.

Ali.M, thanks so much for that! That's really helped me.. I was going to just get my Nudie size, but since those are so bloody tight when brand new that it takes a few days of wriggling and jiggling to get them to not cut me in half, I'll just go up one. Thanks again!

Now.. how about some pics of your Acne jeans?! :winkiss:

Sidneylo-In complete love with your jeans, thanks for such great pics!

Raw denim is much more rigid and hasn't been washed to give jeans the faded look or fake whiskering. When you wear raw denim, it shapes to your body, creating natural crases and fading (ie the area where your wallet goes). Over time the wrinkling and fading is made according to your body, and after it's been washed natural fading and whiskering happen giving your jeans a much more individual look. Plus the quality of raw denim is alot higher than your average jeans because of the material. The photos of the first page just look normal because they haven't been worn in yet.

Am I correct that Levi's 501 Shrink to Fit classics are 'dry' denim? I turn mine inside out for the first two hour soak...

Does cheap monday have a dry/raw denim and what's it called?

Not all raw denim is rigid.. in fact every pair of raw denim jeans I own (Nudie, Denimbirds, Tsubi, Levi's) are a 98/2% cotton/spandex blend. They are just untreated after the denim is dyed and the jeans are made, whereas 'normal' jeans are treated with washes and distressing to create a pre-worn in look.

I've just bought a pair of Levi Black Sharps in raw indigo on ebay.. can't wait to get them! I'm loving trying the different brands to see their own take on using raw denim in their jeans.

Yay for this thread! I LOVE raw denim. My next pair is either going to be Nudie, Denimbirds, or APC. The APC I have now is too tight. I sized down three sizes because I heard before that APC typically stretches out a lot. Well, I definitely went too far with that. I need a 26 now. -_-

Wait, wait, wait you're not supposed to wash them? Wtf no one told me. I bought a pair of Nudies and I've washed them like 8473247892 times. Well sh*t I'm a dumb***. There goes 280 down the drain.

Awww hang on, not all Nudies are raw.. they make pre-treated and washed jeans too, and if yours cost you $280 then they're likely to be that sort, as the handiwork that goes into them costs that much more. Over here the raw jeans are only $160 because all that's gone into them is the denim and the manufacturing. All raw dry Nudies come with the big pamphlet book in the back right pocket, telling you all about the dry denim and how to look after it. In fact, all dry denim I've bought from other brands too have something like this, so that you don't turn all your whites blue in the wash! ^_^

FrankieP, love the jeans!!! :D

I have a pair of really dark denim jeans that i would like to distress a bit or light up the colour.
Any ideas?

Woah thanks!!!! Omg this sounds so fudginks interestinggg!!!:woot::heart:

Kris, head over to the Nudies website, there's tons of info there. Also see the mynudies forum. Massive cult following! I love my raw denim, they're just about all I wear now and I'm a big denimaholic with a 50+ jeans collection.

Sofia, thanks, I can't wait to get them! With your dark jeans, you can try wearing them in faster by using a very fine grade sandpaper across the areas you wish to fade. The unwashed raw denim has the dye kind of sitting on top of the fabric, rather than washed into it, which is why the whiskers and faded areas appear as you wear them and the dye is rubbed off. You just need to hurry this up if you want your pair to be lighter after you wash them, so you can do such things as rubbing dry cloth (I sometimes use a teatowel) over those areas you want to fade faster. And wear them. Lots!
