haha, Im a bit young at the moment. Im waiting til im 14, or mabye ill wait til im 5"9. Either way, It wont take long for either of them. Sydney fashion week is different, It is in May I think. Thankyou for your help though

My booker has told me to show up at the agency at Wednesday because a photographer 'wants to see me'. I understood that he saw my pictures and wants to see me in person before deciding whether to shoot with me or not, am I right? Should I wear the same kind of simple clothes/barely no makeup as in an open call?
And, btw, what are you supposed to wear at castings? Because I have heard to 'keep it simple' but I always see girls all caked up...

So, basically he told me that he likes my look (he used to be a hairdresser and is in love with the white hair thing lol), so next week we will do a test shoot to see if we have 'feeling' and if things go well we will do an editorial. So, I guess some mirror practice is in order... any advice/tips?

Hey, I was wondering...

I've been freelance modelling for 2 years (im now 16) and 5'8
But want to finally be agency represented... (I live in Australia)
I approached an agency 'Platform'.. they told me that they were the wrong agency for me and I should try:
Vivines
Chic
Bliss
Scoop
Scene
Work
Chadwicks
or Pricilla's

To be honest im not sure if I should be offended or not haha? what do you girls think?
If you want to see my look or what ever if that helps you determine or helps me find which agency I should go to let me know and i'll post some of my port photos..

You shouldn't feel offended by a rejection. Never!
Never take any rejection personally. There are a million reasons why they might not want to represent you- most of the times they have a special type in mind they are looking for or just can't take any further girl up on their board, have a girl similar to your look already etc. This has nothing to do with you being a bad model or not good enough....!

The reason why they sent you this list is to make sure you'll apply only to reputable (listed) agencies. This is actually very kind of the agency as it helps your own security. Just give it a try and apply to those agencies

so my friend anna is 16 and about 6 feet. ahe wants to start modeling to get some extra cash. she doesnt really know anything about the industry or fashion in general and i dont want her to get scammed at all.
she is curve (boobs and a but) so i suggested like VS/SI stuff. but i dont know what i should say to her. IMO, if your not passionate about it, it wont really happen, cuz youre not really dedicated. but what should i tell her?
should i submit her photos to the ford model search or one of the big agencies near us?

That's actually a tiny bit too tall for what agencies prefer, but she can still give it a try

If she's curvy, she needs to focus on commercial modeling which means she could work in Tv commercials or for catalogues. (You mention VS, but this is way too high for someone who just starts. Keep in mind, those modeling VS are big names in the industry with strong books).

It depends in which country you are living, but I'd suggest finding a official list of reputable agencies there and send out submissions then. That's usually the best way to start. Or you just ask for the best agencies in your country here at TfS. Most of the times any member can help

If this doesn't work, she could still attend any contents but in these days the number of models becoming very good working rarely started out with any contents. A small number, of course, does. But only a very small number. She needs to be very lucky then. Often expectations of girls who enter such contents are far away from the reality of working after having finished the content.

i know right. i diddnt want to say anything because she wouldnt really understand. most people think the taller the better, but there really is a limit.
i live near LA so she wouldnt have a tought time finding many well known agencies, but ya, she is probably too tall.
ill help her though if she is still into it after a while

Yes, that's true. Most people assume the taller the better which is actually not the case.
I think the best advice for her is sending submissions to the best L.A. agencies or attending their open calls

Well, nearly all VS/SI models started modeling in HF.
The only models i recognized who have never done any HF stuff before VS were Miranda Kerr and Marisa Miller.

Yes that's very true and that's also what I tried to explain.
VS is often associated with commercial modeling but those girls walking there are mostly famous models working on a highly successful level....So the chance of any commercial no-name model being booked for a VS show is rather low

The client is interested in your look, but wants to double check by meeting you in person. This is a great chance for you!
Wear the same outfit you'd wear for any go&see or casting, whatever makes you feel comfortable and what's your own style. Just wear your normal daily outfit, nothing too extravagant.
As you mentioned you always see girls all dressed up, that's what you might see in backstage Fashion Show snapshots, but hardly in any normal castings

Contact your booker again about that issue!
Maybe he hasn't contacted your booker yet (lots of work/stress is a possible explanation) or your booker has been very busy in getting back to you. But definitely don't give up and ask again

1)so i wonder what's the minimum height for a fashion model?
2)is 5'9 (1.75) considered short for a model?
3)and if you have any idea what's the average height? which i believe to be around 5'10

1) depens on your facial skills, if you have a extreme unique face, you can be a model with 173cm. Like Devon Aoki, she's just about 168cm and scored big campaigns like Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.

2) 175cm is short considered for a model, but it's okay for runway, too

Yes.
The hip measurements are the widest part of your hips. This includes measuring the widest=biggest part of your hips (=thighs)
