So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

My explanation was a little short, too; sorry for that.
Well regarding Marike le Roux, she's from South Africa and her motheragency is basend in the US. Same belongs to serveral models from East Europe, who're signed to agencies that are actually like 800 miles away from their hometowns.

I have a question and if it's been answered before, im sorry but:

Can you send polaroids/photos to agencies that arent in your area? (example: A person lives in LA, CA and sends their info to agencies in LA as well as NY, Atlanta, ect.) Sorry if this is a dumb question, but just asking. ^_^

If moving to that area is an option for you, then yes :flower:

So I just sent polaroids by email to quite a few agencies although I still have a few I haven't sent to on my list. I am really nervous/excited and I am crossing my fingers that I'll hear from one of them soon. =)

Wow, thanks! ^_^

Just got a call (a little earlier today) from the agent that scouted me while i was at school to do a campaign (about a month ago) with another modeling job. So excited, thanks for the advice and kind words everyone. :flower:

Oh! That is great. Congratulations :flower:.
I can't to see your work!

So I'm highly considering going on America's Next Top Model! I know it's not the place to go to for a high fashion modeling career but (and I sincerely hope this comment isn't dug up and hinders my chances), I'm no 5'11 Estonian fourteen year old; I'm probably not going to be walking in the next Prada show. However, I do want to go into communications/hosting and announcing, and I think it'd be a good starting place for that. Plus, I could possibly meet Andre Leon Talley! But I need some advice.

***Edited*** please do not post your stats, per thread rules in Post #1.

I'm currently enrolled in college. I know it'd better to pursue a modeling career no later than the age I am now, but as stated earlier; ANTM isn't producing the next Gaultier girl. Would I be okay waiting until I finish college at 22, or should I really consider deferring for a semester or so?

Thanks!!

I don't think they're doing another short season. Your best bet would just be to just say you're ***Edited*** If you go to a casting, wear your highest heels and stand tall. I would consider deffering for a semester. Being 22 and **** Edited***** may not sound so good on paper. I say the younger the better. And good luck!

I have a few questions. I'm 15 (almost 16) and I'm a guy. People constantly tell me I could be a model. I'm a little over 5'9" now but I'm definitely not done growing and my dad is 6'0" so I will probably be near the same. ****Edited**** Please no "weight talk" per the Community Rules nor post your stats per thread rules in Post #1. I don't follow male modelling much, only female, so I don't know if designers are looking for more muscular or thin guys. ***Edited*** People say Anyway, I was thinking at some point of sending my pictures to an agency. But I was wondering, when would be a good time to do so? And since I live about 10 hours away from New York, would it still be possible for me to start modelling there if I live somewhere else (like going there on weekends and such)?

Please do not post your stats here nor discuss your weight, per the "no weight talk" rule throughout tFS and the thread rule, posted here in post #1.

if your signed to a smaller boutique agency but you'd like to move to a bigger one. how do you go about it? do you talk to your agency first or do you just go to see big agencies and see which ones will take you?

also is this a good idea?

That depends on your contract and for how long you are signed with this agency. Go through all details of your contract :flower:
In general, breaking contracts on your own is not allowed. You have to wait until your contract ends or you try talking with this agency you're signed with about this issue.
Or just wait until your contract ends and leave for another agency then.
If you have any further questions, please let me know :flower:

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask this, but
when do start casting for Haute Couture???

if anyone knows the right thread please tell me.

thank you

^^Why do you ask? I remember last year a model mentioned on her Twitter that models fly in 3-5 days before the start. However, I am pretty sure that negotiations have been going on for a while. Also, I would think that casting for the hc shows would be very competitive, still lesser known models have been selected for some of the smaller couturiers.

thank you!
agee I asked that because i was curious about the casting process

I'm a 179cm (that's 5'9 I guess?) tall girl, with all the right measurements. But I'm also already 20 years old, and I have very little experience in modelling. So I wonder am I too old to be wanting to start a career in modeling?
And by career I don't mean becoming a TOPmodel, I just want to be able to get a job regularly.
Thanks in advance:flower:
