I finally saw The Descendants and have to admit that George deserves the nominations he's getting. It was a moving film and he did manage to make me forget he was George Clooney-- no self-satisfied smirks and debonair wardrobe. Shailene Woodley was also fantastic. Maybe she can get away from the teen sitcom she's on and do more promising roles.

Even though I haven't had the chance to see it yet if The Artist wins BP I'm not going to mind.

I really need to get around to watching The Descendants. I thought George was good in ''Up in the Air'' so I'm sure I'll enjoy him in this too.

I also liked The Descendants. It was a little clumsy at times (surprising coming from the guy who made intelligent adult dramas such as Sideways and About Schmidt, and partly in Election).

Shailene Woodley was just so watchable and character that could've been so unsympathetic in the hands of the wrong actress.

imo The Artist deserves every award they win, it´s so beautiful
and I still haven´t seen all the movies that are nominated for Best Picture but it´s a lot better than The Help, The Descendants or Moneyball imo... quality and acting.

I dreamed about the Oscars the other day, I was so upset because Demian Bichir didn't win.

I can see Clooney snatching it. The Actress race reminds me of the Actor race in 2009 (Rourke vs. Penn). It's so interesting because I can see all Clooney, Dujardin, Davis and Streep all winning, but of course there can only be two.

And I'm glad Extremely Loud wasn't as sucky as I was expected.

I still haven't seen most of the nominated films. Usually by this point, I've at least seen the majority.
But I don't have time...this semester is killer.

I think it will start in about 3 hours. Not sure though 'cause I'm kind of confused with the hour difference

At this point I've seen all nine nominees for Best Picture so I know which I'd prefer to win and which not. I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point anyway.

I like The Artist but it wasn't my favourite film of the year by any stretch. The ones I preferred didn't really get nominated: Melancholia, Drive, Shame, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Senna. From those nominated I don't think there's any I would detest if they won. Well maybe EL&IC and to a lesser extent The Help. They probably shouldn't even be in this category. Or War Horse actually.

I'm still looking forward to the ceremony as always. I just hope that we get one or two surprises to liven things up. I wonder if The Artist really will get a big sweep or if it will be shared out a bit more.

For example, I'm finding it very hard to pick who will win in Cinematography or Original Screenplay. The Artist could grab them or maybe Tree Of Life, Midnight in Paris might stand a chance?
