From Yahoo News:

U.S. retailer Target is holding what it claims to be the world's first virtual fashion show in New York on Nov. 6, with holograms rather than human models gracing the catwalk as shown in these handout photographs from the retailer.

Didn't Diesel do something recently with the hologram idea, too?

cool idea, but I find it just a weird concept. I'd prefer seeing real models.

Didn't they also do a fashion show in the sky or something crazy like that.. I wonder what inane idea they will come up with next

Oh yea, this is sure to make me race off to Target for the first time in my life. :innocent:

^Now that you mention it... I'd probably be running in the opposite direction. The clothes must be really poor quality if they have to show them off through a hologram!

um.. whats with allt he negativity..
this isnt lame
its **** cool..

this may not be "high fashion", but this is very cool and there is so much potential for this kind of technology to be applied in other ways in the future. :woot::woot::woot:

i'm not really seeing how this is lame.

i find it hard to believe that high fashion (or, in this case, target fashion...) could ever be represented well by virtual images, at least not the same way they are in person

it almost defeats the point

I imagine models worldwide are hurrying for an alternative job as we speak, if this is any indication of future fashion shows.

Virtual clothes on virtual models. With all the technology involved you may one day be able to buy clothing tailored to you as never before. Target may well be onto something that fits far better than anything made RTW and far more accessible. I'm sure if this wasn't Target it would be considered revolutionary.

That would be rather scary....the "ideal" woman will become unattainably perfect. lol

good point exactly, fourboltmain  if it wasn't them yes

in the pictures there are some clothing that are walking without people inside of them-- i would love to see that in real life :woot:

I was walking through Vanderbilt Hall today, and I saw people setting up for this show. I've always thought Vanderbilt Hall would be great for a fashion show. Never thought Target would be it.

I don't see why the concept coming from Target automatically makes it lame. Like Spike implied, one less acclaim for Hussein Chalayan. If it were him everyone's mouth would be agape from sheer glee.
