This should probably be in favorites :flower:

I watched a couple of these in Costa Rica and sometimes I catch them on the spanish language channels.. They were hilarious.. I liked them quite a bit as far as entertainment goes  .. They do impressions of these on SNL which are pretty funny.. I like the zoom ins on peoples expressions

I love soap operas (except for the American ones), the acting is awful but it's a lot of fun sometimes.

i saw that snl episode with christina aguilera, very funny:D

someone needs to watch them with the intention to be humoured plus the people look naturally good compared to the american ones that look toomade up

Im costarican, so as a latinamerican ... I grew up watching telenovelas from Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina .. even from Chile!

Nowadays the US has been taken by storm by "Ugly Betty", but believe it or not .. in latinamerica this tv shows were considered even MAJOR trendsetters ...

Here I'll start by posting a video of the opening of Marielena, which had a weird and scandalous plot by turning the mistress of the leading man as the main character and the wife as the bad one.

omg, years, and years, and years ago I was obsessed with sentimientos ajenos , one of the first things carlos ponce ever did...I would tape it every night, he was my dream man :crush:

anyone remember that one?

oh and I just remembered it was on the same year that one with thalia was on...and I'd tape that too, so sometimes I would be weeks behind just trying to catch up on my tapes

OMG!!!!

With that girl from "Las hijas de la madre tierra" playing the evil one!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Sooooooooo good!

the only novelas i've ever liked were Betty La Fea, Esmeralda, y El Manental...i have no choice but to watch them whenever I go to my grandmothers house!!

OMG!!!!

Those were sooo good!!!

Does anyone remember LAZOS DE AMOR????

The triplets played by Lucero .. and the evil.. Maria Paula??

She ROCKED!

once again, I do. -_-
I remember ALL telenovelas. even those from Venezuela... "Cara Sucia'', no kidding. :ninja:

oh I do, hahaha. not familiar with the plot though.

I don't remember the plot at all anymore either! Just that Carlos Ponce was the worlds best, and most beautiful husband, and he was married to this gorgeous and innocent brunette, and they had lots of babies, and somewhere down the line something went wrong... And whatever the theme song was, I don't remember it either but it sounded like the type of song alejandro fernandez would sing, man that song would make me swoon :crush:

do you guys get brasilian ones dubbed in spanish in other latin american countries?

I spend crazy amounts of money to be able to watch my brasilian soap opera every night, and now that I have DVR, I have not missed 1 minute of an episode of paginas da vida since it began in july :ninja:

Oh .. yes we get the brazilian ones all the time ... many many historic ones ... I remember .. the first one I saw was Tieta ... and they were so racy!!!!

Hahahahaha!

Venezuelan ones? REmember Amor en silencio????

That was the best!!! With Catherine Fulop!!!!

you're crazy, mundo!.
but yes, i also remember the theme song...even a bit of the lyrics...it not all hahaha. no dejaras de amar con sentimientos ajenos?.

I have seen brazilian soap operas here, the channel that runs all the big telenovelas..Televisa, is pretty much like a cartel of television, they only export and rarely import [except for Univision material] so I havent been able to follow the brazilian stuff.. Televisa's counterpart though... Telemundo does have a brazilian and eastern European selection but i live in some sort of canyon...it's hard to tune less-known networks. :ninja:

Oh .. Univision makes so crazy telenovelas... the cast is from different countries, so sometimes actors whow play brother and sister have accents from different countries!!!!
-like in La mujer en el espejo-

oh my god I've found my kindred spirits in you guys...

ultramarine,in brasil we always have a historic one as one of the 3 on daily (well more on random channels, but who watches those...).

-the 6pm is the historic one, always, it's the behaved one with sweet and innocent characters, frequently a doe-eyed teenage girl as the heroine, my 2 grandmothers always fall in love with 6pm one, they can't get enough
the 6pm historic rule is only broken when the major one (see below) is a historic one
-the 7pm is the goofy one, the plots are always beyond crazy, there is tons of slapstick humor, cheap laughs, beefcakeyness for no reason, gratuitous sex, etc
-the 8pm one is the big deal, the major one

and yes, I did just gave a lesson on how brasilian novelas work

and my favorite 2 of all time are por amor and laços de familia

I had no idea brasilian novelas had a process like that .. I hardly remember the historic ones.. maybe Terra nostra ...

And the funny ones ... there was this one called The color of sin .. or the skin's sin or something like that ... twas super funny ..

haaha

thats how most telenovelas operate, ultra. :alien:

I know Televisa's funny hour was also 6 pm...7pm was a teenagers' hour..8 was boring time with new/failed producers [right before the 9 oclock one so they could raise their ratings a little bit] and the 9..obviously, being the big one..sometimes historical but most of the time, it just had the big producers behind them. -_-
