Yes, exactly, ridiculous! That's the great part - why the 70s heroin chic was more fun than the 90s. The 90s heroin chic was very low key "whatever, nevermind", rather serious, shoe-gazing and depressed whereas the 70s version involved corny hats and freaky+fun prints. I just love that shot - I'm going to have to dig that magazine up again and see if there were any more priceless shots by Bob Richardson.

I am sorry but I really don't understand your post. so he can take great photos but he chooses not to - ok so why do you like his photos? Thats just makes no sense as I see it. ...and whats is the analogy with mary kate olsen....how is he like kitsch or mary kate olsen?

We all saw the photos of mk with the gigantic loose tank tops, the numerous scarfs & the oversized sunglasses. She chose to dress like that and I particularly liked it, the same way I like Terry's photos. It's not exactly politically correct or well done or even brilliant but it has something about it, something that makes me like it without being really able to explain why.

Terry's photos may not be brilliant but I sure can look at ten different campaigns and tell right away the one he's responsible for.

I'm sorry if sometimes I diverge and make it hard for people to understand my point of view.

I won't be boring and repeat the opinions i happen to agree with-thos of metal on metal, spike, prince of cats, model mom, etc.
instead, i'll post this link- http://www.livejournal.com/users/suck_my_nya/51026.html#cutid5 .
the pics somewhere on the middle of this page are terry richardson's work. to me, they say a lot about his "art". i'll let you judge for yourselves...

I love it. Its pure fun. Maybe not pure clean fun, but fun none-the-less. B)

Terry need back the style to Jurgeb Teller and Helmut Newton:innocent:

sisley campaign ss 2006
shot by Terry )
models- Lara stone Missy X and Michael G

don`t really like this campaign cause previous were more interesting
the guy`s pics seems 2 me more interesting than the girls`s

scanned by me from new catalog

i quite like a portion of his work... suppose im the only one hahaha... i like his signature style- raw, gritty, shocking, but in a few special cases, beautiful. Sometimes the girls look so natural but enhanced by his photography... and then other times they just look undressed and hairy:lol:

I like Terry, needless to say he's a real character and I appreciate that, art wouldn't be the same without it's "weirdos".

I kind of like his Sisley ads but at the same time, they kind of give Sisley a whorish feeling.

does anyone have scans of the editorial feat. Jessica Miller from the recent Flair magazine?

I you're talking about the pink ones, don't remember the exact season, I have to say I loved the fluffy dogs ;)

Terry has a good printer and Sisley has a lot of money + good art directors + good models .... All this can fix a lot ^_^

He definitely has a style and an eye! But that's not enough to call him an artist, or someone special, or even a very good photographer since he doesn't really evolve...he offers the same thing - which is cool for art buyers etc since he's predictable.

I also think he doesn't w-a-n-t to achieve something further (he made his point, but now it's over, so what's next?? he can't keep shocking people for the next 20 years with the same pictures)

Unwerth has a style and does the same thing over and over again, but yet - it seems different for me! I am always pleasantly surprised when looking at new pictures from here. She still has ideas...
I think I'd be time for him to shoot something totally different. Just to prove that he can face the challenge. But maybe he can't. :p

By the way - if you're interested in some artist p*rn - take a look at deliciaevitae!

have a nice day!

There is a fine line between art and p*rn...where do you draw that line?

I dont remember who said it, but I think she said it best..."the difference between art & p*rn*gr*phy is just the lighting.." Hehe!

But yeah, Im w/ nearly everybody else here--there's nothing artistic about some girl nibbling at your noodle of a knob...yawn..
