The 4-5 Piece French Wardrobe #10

Thank you--and I notice it pretty much matches the background color of your dress

I remember my mother had a brown and ivory polka dot wrap (probably faux wrap) dress that I liked ... early exposure to polka dots

I am going to North Carolina ... Asheville, Biltmore, and Oconaluftee Indian Village, which is like the Cherokee Williamsburg. Everything is ca 1760s. I'm also going to visit the artisan who made my dough bowl (I think I posted a picture in the interiors thread), and hopefully get another one. He's one of 20 people who make them by hand--and AFAIK the best

Well seen

I was actually looking for a brown polka dot dress, but I haven't managed to found one that I liked. I am really happy about the skirt though - very versatile. I have already worn it at the office with heeled boots and a blazer, at the library (thesis writing...) with a sweater and sneakers and for a christening with the leopard heels, white t-shirt and my leather jacket.

Hope you are enjoying your vacation - very jealous! Shame about the sandals - the buckles looked so beautiful. Did you manage to get them in the right size?

@dodencebt: nice pants! Wish I had a job where I could wear pajama like pants

______________________

I rarely by occasionwear - I usually pull something from my closet, but this I am attending three weddings this Summer and a bunch of other celebrations, so I have bought myself a pink dress. It is cotton, so I am thinking I can wear it with black block heel sandals and my YSL mail clutch or the Cult Gaia bag for parties, and with flat sandals for casual summer wear.

Okay so apparently the pants are sold out in Cph. Bye bye pants, unless I miraculously find a leftover pair on sale on a trip somewhere in June or July.

^ Maybe Yoox later on??

Love the versatility of your dress, betina :flower: Great idea.

Well, I'm starting to understand why these sandals are so widely available on sale ... :ermm: It seems there is no right size. I think 38 is probably the 'correct' size for me (what I have in silver), but I think they're just poorly designed and don't fit anyone right :( They're beautiful shoes, but somehow deeply unflattering. So both pair are going back.

While on vacation, I bought this Eileen Fisher sweater at a little boutique with some of my souvenir money ... as I was packing I found that a couple things I wanted to take needed to go to the cleaners, so I was re-wearing some things and felt that another top would be nice. The color is a bit different than my dress, more of a peacock blue. Organic linen/cotton, and very cool and comfortable.

They had just received a new shipment, and I was only there to see her steaming this because we were chatting about our dogs (Napoleon the toy poodle had wandered over to make friends ).

@fashionista-ta: shame with the shoes, but I am sure you will find something else :flower: Lovely colour of the t-shirt (also I love the name of your dog!).

Boozt had an extra 25% of sale items in the weekend, so I went ahead and ordered a linen skirt I have been keeping an eye on for a while. Fits like a glove and will be perfect for both work and spare time. I can also see it working for both summer with sandals and a tee/strappy top/shirt and for winter with a turtleneck and boots. Mine is red.

I wish. The problem with ordering things from luxury resellers - Yoox included - to a third world country is that we pay around 20-35% more taxes (plus an incredible amount of money for shipping - always) than someone who lives in the European Union for example. And you'd think that resellers would deduct the VAT, etc. from the price so you could pay roughly the same as others in the end, but prices are nearly always identical regardless of whether I'm shipping to my home country or someplace else where they don't have these added taxes. So basically I can only order online when I'm travelling to a EU country and I receive the item in my hotel - then you don't have to pay anything extra for items that cost up to 350 euros upon your return home. It's not that complicated a way to make it work, but it involves a lot of planning and I usually miss sale season.

^ Oh ugh ... I can see why you wouldn't want to do that!!

I like the skirt, betina ... very pretty soft red!

Napoleon was the boutique owner's dog  Mine are named for sweet things (or still have their original name). Right now I have Cookie and Gracie (nicknamed Pumpkin). All my dogs have been girls ...

Great dog names as well  And thanks - really digging that colour as well.

I got my Stitch Fix today ... this was a pretty good one. Here's what I'm keeping ... the brands are Iris and Cosmic Blue Love, both new to me. Cropped pants are generally not my thing, but these black ones fit perfectly and I love the ruching and scalloped hem. The yellow ones come to my ankle when I roll them down.

There were also a couple tops and a pair of coated black J Brand jeans that were perfect except for the too-low rise and resulting muffin top :(

Glad there's anyone in the same shoes as me. Hello to you, nice to meet u!

Well, guess what I got yesterday! I remember reading that Ganni was coming to the US (last spring, I guess), and now it's going to be in my closet like it's already in some of yours!

Yesterday I was intending to shop for hair accessories, which I did (got a clip and a barrette), but I also went up to the top floor to look at lingerie. On my way back down, a dress caught my eye and I got off the escalator to look around. It wasn't this dress, but this is what I ended up buying. I've been wanting some animal print, and don't own any for hot weather ... this is a very lightweight cotton/silk voile.

This is #5 for fall. I am also getting a Stitch Fix tomorrow  But I've taken a sneak peak and I can say for sure that the combination floral/geometric print is going back  and very likely the sleeveless item too.

They're really fun, but I need to put the brakes on my shopping  In other news, this season I have spent less than I have in quite some time.

PS Here are the pieces I kept from my Stitch Fix ... two of which I will count (the jeans). This one was the best yet! The tops were a total fail, which is ultimately a good thing

Very pretty leopard print, ta-ta!

Porselli has extended their estimated delivery time to 11-12 months. So the shoes ordered oct 2018 will first be used may 2020 due to winter and delivery times. A complete joke. When I ordered them, it said april 2019, which was bad enough.

^ Thanks!

Wow, I can't believe it!! Can you plan a vacation to someplace you can buy them in person? Ballet flats are such a basic item ... it really is stunning how difficult it is to find (and in your case, buy ) ones you like.

Fortunately now that I WFH I am barefoot most of the time, so shoes are less of a concern. That doesn't stop me from buying new ones though! My birthday is this month and I was thinking about what I would like to get for my own birthday present  I feel this is the very best way to make sure you get at least one great present! I consulted my list of things I need to buy, and nothing seemed too exciting (bowls, skillet, saucepan, that kind of thing). I'd been thinking my new dress would be cute with espadrilles I don't own, such as the ones that molded  I was thinking of red or black, but these are what I ended up getting. I don't know how they'll work with the dress, but I liked them the best (I looked at a variety of places) ... the color is called coral--to me it looks like a pink coral. These will be #2 for next year  I plan to do a recap of my buys for this year, but first I need to wear them  A couple are being altered.

Beginning to think the board really is dead!

Just stopped by to mention I received my birthday shoes, and super impressed with the quality. Super soft suede, flexible sole, outstanding construction ... really nice. This is the first pair of Roger Viviers I've had.

Fashionista-ta I have just re-found tFS after a number of years for the very purpose of finding this thread! I do hope it is not dead :(

Long time, no see. I have been buried in thesis writing the last few months, but now I am free!

Congrats on your first Ganni purchase, @fashionista-ta. How are you liking it? And are the shoes working with it? Somehow the past few Ganni collections haven't really spoken to me. I have started looking towards Stine Goya instead but despite the price, most of their dresses are made of polyester (why?!).

I don't quite understand how, since last summer was so hot, but when the heat arrived I found my self lacking clothes for +25 celcius, so I've added a few summer dresses - and shorts, which I don't think I've owned for the past 10 years. Also was lucky enough to find a t-shirt and a pair of trousers I have been eyeing, both second hand. With the new trousers my pant collection is now up to 2 pairs.

The red and white floral dress I wore for my thesis defense. Its really great right now on the colder summer days with a pair of sneakers and leggings or with sandals. Also will be great for fall with boots and a leather jacket.

Has anyone else started thinking about their fall wardrobe?

katie, welcome back! It is apparently not dead  Tell us about your wardrobe plans?

betina, I'm enjoying the Ganni dress! Wore it yesterday for my birthday with my bronze cross-body, which helps corral the volume a bit, and the new espadrilles. I think they work well together, so I'm pleased! I could have gone up a half-size in them, but that was hard to tell trying them on. I just won't wear them if I need to walk for miles. I got a compliment on the dress while I was out yesterday.

I love your thesis dress--such a nice pop of color! It would be fun to pick up the colors (2 or even all 3!) with shoes.

I still have my polyester ban in place. There is just nothing good about it!

I don't own any shorts, for more than 10 years! But I would consider the right pair  I just don't have good knees, which runs in the family. They work just fine, but they are not a feature to be put on public display, IMO. And of course there are no black tights with shorts!

I am loving my coated skinny jeans. Why are any jeans uncoated, I'm now asking myself? They're also high-rise, and I'm liking that too.

I ordered a trunk from Trunk Club (Nordstrom), but not till October! So we'll see how that goes.

Still alive here as well, just haven't been that active. Not that I didn't buy anything lately (on the contrary :ninja:) but for some reason I didn't end up posting. I mainly got some thin knits to wear year round (layered in winter, alone in s/s). They all ended up being from A.P.C I think, apparently their sizing works really well for my body type. I also started a small collection of camp collar shirts in different prints/colors. Very grateful for that now we're in an insane heatwave.
I'll see if I can find some pictures.

@tata: belated congratulations! :flower:
@katie-licious : welcome!
@betina: Great prints, especially love your thesis dress!

I haven't been planning for f/w yet, mostly because I really don't need anything except maybe a cardigan and/or jacket for layering. My new function at work makes me want to dress a bit smarter, my shirts and jackets now actually get some wear besides special occasions and the random occasional wear. Wearing jeans and t-shirts are still fine, but it just feels better to look the part (just a bit more) now I've got more responsibilities.

So just the sweater section for now. ^_^

@fashionista-ta: sounds like a really nice colour combo with the leopard dress, shoes and bag. I do like the look af a looser dress with a crossbody bag as well.

And thank you - I really love that dress too. I was thinking it might be a bit loud for the occasion, but I figured it was a day for celebrating as well. I have sort of a poly ban as well - considering if I should reinstate my "no low-budget dresses" ban as well, as the cream dress has already started pilling. Not sure why I keep thinking it wont happen.

I have rarely felt comfortable in shorts neither - kinda feels too boyish. These are good, somehow though. And practical.

Is trunk club the same as stitchfix (please enlighten me!).

@Fewormany: such nice colours and patterns on your new sweaters. Also thanks re my dress. I understand the need to dress for your new role - congrats!
