The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #6

betina, if Burberry is out of reach, what about London Fog?

I see there's a vintage Burberry on eBay right now that looks quite similar to mine, but it is pricey. It may be that this is a purchase that will require some patience since you want a bargain ...

I am eyeing another pair of shoes ... thinking about pink again. I saw them in a magazine in ivory suede, perhaps the ultimate in impractical. So looking at a different color & type of leather ... but no idea how the style will fit me as I've never tried it on.

^Link, please? I am still curious to see how yours look. There are so many trenches out there that it is difficult to see which are more classical sometimes.

@Trenchcoat (the person ;)): I have nothing against Zara since I have never really owned anything from them, but I am looking to invest, and that means no high street solutions to me. I know many would be pleased having a trench last 5 years like I did my last one, but now that I am getting something classic I would like to put a little more money into it and get something that will stay with me for a looong time.

@Ta-ta: If I am buying a Burberry I would rather not buy it on ebay, since it it a lot of money to waste if it does not fit when it arrives. The one you are linking to is lovely, but I need something shorter, or I will drown. I will have a look at Fog London though, thank you.

And yes, I am preparing myself that I might not find one right away, but that is okay.

Oh I see. I just wanted to point out that I have one from zara (for six years) and it's a classic model. To me Burberry and APC is the top and the rest is actually the same.

I was looking for a shirt in a olive green colour. And found this on the zara site. I love the colour and because I've dyed my hair red now (a little bit just like Eizhowa's colour on polyvore capsule pictures) I was looking for something in this colour. The draped shirt looks so greekish to me.

^ I don't want to buy that shirt but Im looking for a cardigan or jumper in that colour. If you know anything let me know!

Btw I have a question to you all haha. I read dead fleurette's blog last week and was so inspired by her wardrobe vision. But I was still wondering what I would do if I had her wardrobe. She seems to have lets say 30 pieces of clothes (everything included). But don't you get bored sometimes. I mean you need an outfit for going out, another casual one, dinner, school, work etc etc. You can't wear the same pieces to every occasion (cashmere jumpers are casual imo). And I was thinking about my own wardrobe and a lot of thins (basics) that I had in mine were casual. But I also wants some nice pieces for going out and dinner. Multiple dresses etc. What is your opinion about that.

The thing is, that while I have almost 100 items all included in my wardrobe, I probably wear 30% a lot more than the rest. Deadfleurette really has nailed the "buy only what you love" criteria. The fact that she has other creative outlets (I think she is into music) combined with her minimalist nature means she can be satisfied with her 30 pieces. It is difficult to battle the feeling of want though.

You have seen Jeanne Damas' blog - she wears jumpers to parties;)

I would love to see your new haircolor! I have actually been toying with the idea of dying my hair a medium dark ashy blonde color, but I have to many clothes that look good with my red hair. It just wouldn't be worth it.

After living 5 days out of by backpack (I've been on a trip to Iceland, amazing country btw) I'm glad I'm back home and have a bit more wardrobe choices. Even though it's kind of refreshing knowing you don't have to worry what to wear because there are only 2 options.

Betinapple: I've read good things about Aquascutum, maybe they have something you like?

^I haven't worn it much, because of the situation with my bluejeans from Hobbs. Keep in mind that it is very short sweater if you are considering it. The other reviews in this thread have all been positive to COS though:flower:

eizhowa, I just got back from London where I ended up buying the same green Uniqlo sweater that you have. :P From pictures the colour looked too dark for me, but it turned out it suits me quite well, I think. I also got a wine coloured cardigan from there, which is quite adventurous for me as red really scares me. Other than that I mostly stocked up on basic t-shirts and button-down shirts, I'm really not very good at shopping when I travel, sadly. Oh, and a biker-style cardigan from Jigsaw in a beige/oatmeal colour (predictably, as I've noticed I seem to follow a certain formula when it comes to colour - most of my tops and shirts are white, my knitwear is beige/oatmeal, jackets are green or blue, bottoms, coats and accessories are black. Maybe this is where I need to mix it up a bit!).

I also continued my search for black skinny jeans while in London. I tried Topshop's Leigh jeans (way too soft and stretchy) and the Jamie (too high waisted), and then I went to Selfridge's and tried on about ten different pairs/brands (J Brand, Paige, Acne, MiH, Current Elliot, 7 For All Mankind, I can't even remember all of them) but did not find a single pair I liked. The Paige jeans were the ones I liked best overall, but the back pockets were too small and placed too high for my liking. MiH's Oslo weren't too bad, but I didn't like the front pockets on them. Other than that I found most of the pairs I tried too soft, thin and stretchy, as I like my jeans to actually feel like jeans and not leggings. Beginning to think I am quite hopeless, as I can be a little too specific about what I like...

^I think if you find one pair of great jeans a year, things are all right:lol: It is difficult!

I wish I was that lucky! I think the last pair I bought was 4-5 years ago, so you can imagine they are looking a little worse for wear.

betina, perhaps you can go to the store & figure out your Burberry size/ideal length ... then you could get what you want on eBay if it pops up.

Betinapple I would like a trench exactly like the one you posted. I'm in Australia and I'm not too hopeful I will find one. There are a couple if brands here that might make a nice trench.

Cheap Monday jeans are the best and Levi's.

Thanks for the suggestions Trenchcoat. :flower: I tried on Cheap Monday a little while ago, but couldn't find any I liked. I also have a pair of Levi's i.d. jeans, but they are so low waisted they give me the worst camel toe! I've only worn them twice, I think. Are there any other Levi's models I should try?

Caramel all my jeans are from Nudie Jeans, the brand is targeted towards men but I know lots of women who wear them as well. They have a big range of models, you might wanna check if they've got something you like.
The fact that they are targeted towards men will probably prevent them for looking/feeling like leggings and they have room in certain area's to prevent camel toe. ;)

The levi curve is good. Levis has also highwaisted jeans btw.
