@Betinapple: I feel your coat conundrum! I'm kind of keeping my eye out for a winter coat as well, and though my requirements are not exactly the same as yours, it does seem like everything out there is boxy/oversized/cocoon-shaped, which doesn't work at all for me either.

@Nymphaea: That Burberry coat... I liked hearing your London shopping review! I just booked a trip for the end of November, so there will be no more shopping for me until then! I tend to get a bit overwhelmed when shopping in London, so I need to make a more detailed plan of where to go and what to look for this time.

@Barbaraa: I also really like tulip shaped dresses, but they are really hard to find!

I think I posted in one of the older threads about my search for the perfect jeans? I bought a pair then from Gina Tricot which I liked a lot, but they turned out to be pretty terrible quality. I do have a new favourite though, Diesel Skinzee. I bought a pair of black ones last month and liked them so much I had to get a pair of dark blue ones too. The fabric is firm and keeps it shape really well while still having lots of stretch. They are super comfortable and flattering, so I'm crossing my fingers that this model will stay around for a while!

@Caramel thank you, I enjoy sharing my experiences. Waiting for your shopping experience in November. :flower: The jeans look hot!

@Betinapple All I can say now about Burberry is that the fabric feels sturdy, it's sewn perfectly and the fit is great. I'm impressed and I will be even more when the coat holds very well.

I love the oversized cocoon shaped coats, but indeed I don't think they are very warm only when you wear a fitted coat or layers beneath it. Some versions are even without buttons etc., looks lovely but very brrrr (shivering ). Love your talk about tights, makes me feeling warm again :P.

Next week I will be hunting a relaxed fitted jeans. I will first try my old jeans brand Replay.
I ordered a short quilted winter coat and (still :cool2:smile: from the sale a short (100% cotton) and long sleeved shirt (100% cashmere).

Thanks, Melisande, Nymphaea, and Jinadaze

Melisande, glad your coat is in good shape. What about a belt in a different, contrasting color perhaps? Emerald, purple, red ... ? Or perhaps even more than one? You only live in the fashion capital of the world, so I understand why you have shopping woes  What about returning to the designers/labels of some of your favorite wardrobe items from the past?

Nymphaea, glad the trench worked out--it looks great! The perfect London souvenir. I suspect the sheen will eventually go away with cleaning, but the good news is that after all these years, my trench has always come back from the cleaners perfect (the answer to smudge).

Remember my black patent leather brogues with golden heels I bought back in August? I really loved them, but had to sell them because they were giving me terrible blisters.
A lesson for the future, since I really should send them back after first trying them on, because they were uncomfortably small. So I will be on a hunt for black brogues comes Spring. Maybe I'll even find a pair on sales. Preferably in patent leather, because I already have some regular perforated ones, a studded pair and a pair in nude patent leather.
I am a bit frustrated because of this pair of shoes and the V-neck merino sweater, since I love both things to pieces.

^ Oh dear :( I agree that you really have to be ruthless when opening packages from shopping online.

Well, I should receive my order tomorrow, so I'll see how the pieces fit, and how ruthless I need to be  I have a good feeling about them, but we'll see.

Thanks to your Outnet recommendation (thank you ), I ordered a sweater in Shocking Pink tonight  (It's pinned on my closet board.) I considered a black one with a neckline I really like, but ... it was black, and I already have a lot of black. So I decided to splash out ... we'll see how that goes. I like the way the pink looks--a warm pink. It would have been perfect with those pink suede and leopard shoes I didn't get

Assuming everything works, these will be pieces 1, 2, and 3 for the season.

I think the sweater will go really well with denim trousers and black pants, as well as various skirts. I plan to layer it, and since the neckline is high, I will be able to layer things with low necklines that I don't have lots of opportunities to wear.

Received my order tonight ... the dress works, the T does not, so it will be going back. The dress is teal, as it appeared in photos, not emerald, which is good ... I prefer teal. The design, especially the sleeves, is unlike anything I've ever seen before--unique, comfortable, flattering  Very happy with it.

We've started to get some cooler weather now, so I'm in the mood for sweaters. Still thinking about the black one ...

I've also recently noticed some wear on one pair of my denim trousers. I'm not ready to discard them over it, but I think it's probably time to put a replacement pair on my shopping list so I can discard them when it's time. Not sure how easy they'll be to find. I may get these for spring ... and still planning on the bag as part of my fall shopping.

PS This is the sweater I ordered.

That is a very pretty pink color! Looks like it would be very flattering. So happy for you that the dress worked out! I remember when you pinned it, and it looked so lush.

^ Thank you :flower: Jinadaze has good taste! There's also a bright green that I don't like nearly as well as this (but no doubt it is someone's perfect color).

It did indeed ... his silks look good enough to eat  I wondered about all the many folds, and that it turns out is just how it looks on the hanger, not when you actually put it on.

Oh wow, didn't even know you actually ordered the sweater! :o So glad you did! I immediately thought of you when I saw it in my newsletter. ^_^ I think the shade is gorgeous and would freshen up almost any complexion and the cut is indeed very flattering. I especially like it from the back, it really hugs the body in a great way but is loose enough. Fingers crossed you will gonna be satisfied with it. :flower:

Ive recently bought a Isabel Marant Lexy jacket from someone. But the jacket is pilling very badly. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the pilling?

^ Thanks again, and I hope so too--fingers crossed!

Great sweater! You're on a Lanvin roll, aren't you?

I ended up getting the jeans I wanten two days after getting the Acne scarf, so my two main buys for the beginning of the season are done. I'm still looking for a nice buttonless cardigan, but that's not a big priority (neither was the scarf actually ).
After this weekends temperatures are (finally) dropping, so I can start wearing my fall clothes again. I'm looking forward to wearing sweaters and scarfs again. ^_^

Trenchcoat: The least damaging method is to use ducttape and pull it off. I would try that first. However, I understand electrical pilling machines are very effective. I think Nymphaea has one? I am considering getting one myself.

I seem to be  You would think I'd been reading that 'If you could only wear one designer for the rest of your life' thread

Congratulations on your purchases! So you're looking for a cardigan that just drapes?

I've been wearing a few fall clothes too. I've gotten out my knit pants I bought early this year that have wool in them. The company claims they are good year-round  ... I think they must not live here! They're beautifully made and really comfortable.

I would like to be told why there are so many black pants out there! I already have three pair, and can't think of any justification for more--plus people will just think I'm wearing the same ones. Even just charcoal grey would be good ...

I looked around a bit for denim trousers, and they seem to be thin on the ground. NYDJ makes some ... no offense to anyone, but I despise that brand and find it unflattering. (In some departments it seems to be 90% of what Nordstrom carries, so I have tried them on.) I saw some eskandar that come in two sizes with an elastic waist--um, no. So we'll see ... I did see some that didn't look that fabulous for $575, which seems more than a little ridiculous for denim. I would love any recommendations.

I've had a sweater shaver before, and they do work. It's a PITA, but hey ... I would just be careful about using anything with adhesive. I do use lint rollers--I have long-haired dogs, what choice do I have?--but I've read that doing that attracts stuff onto the fabric afterwards, & I don't doubt it.

You can also pick them off one by one in slow moments

Btw, I do consider this a sign of a bad quality knit. I can kind of spot which knits will and won't pill ... I think we've had a discussion of this before, but it's difficult to articulate, it's kind of instinctual. But I would make note of the brands and types of knits that have failed you for future shopping consideration.

^ There could be worse things than wearing only Lanvin for the rest of you life.

And it's a draping cardigan I'm looking for indeed. I already own one and I don't miss the buttons at all. Although, when it gets really cold (you never know..) a thick buttoned cardigan is more comfortable. I'll see whichever one comes first, the draped cardigan or the cold.

Regarding the black pants, I think it has to do with the fact that most people like black. It's the safe choice, safe sells.

^^My Acne scarf pills... I think it is more noticable in knits in certain colors.

What "stuff" do lint rollers attract? I use those SO much. My cat has long white hair...

Good to know, about the scarf. I'll have something to do when waiting in line..

And I always have a lint roller at hand as well, my cat used to shed so much. In both white and black, so I would always see at least one color of cat hair on my clothes. :meow:

Oh, indeed there are worse things  I think I've already experienced a few of them  I actually wouldn't mind at all, but they don't make everything I need ...

Yeah, and black pants are also uniquely flattering, which also makes it difficult to buy other things. But, I think I must ... either that, or a silhouette that is really distinct from what I already have  Like for example, I don't have any with an athletic-style ankle band.

^^I just wear grey now:lol: I think the pilling is most visible on the camel scarfs. My sister has the grey one, and it isn't as visible on hers.
