The Acne Thread

^ If it helps, I had dry skin too... you just have to take care of your skin a little more

Oh and you may not have really bad acne, it may just be the stubborn kind! Lol.

Yes, it can give depression, but I know with my dermo, he was very nice and said if I ever started to feel down, he fit me in at any time. They're very understanding.

And again, I was exactly the same as you... I got very depressed about my skin. And I never used to talk to anyone about it because I was scared people would laugh at me for being so vain. But seeing your skin clear up so well really does make you feel so much better and gives you a lot more confidence.

Let me know if you do decide and if you do need someone to talk to, feel free to PM me for advice at any time :flower:

Acne Cause By Demodex Mites

I had Terrible Acne for YEARS, and used anything and everything my doctor perscribed. Nothing helped. Finally, a friend of mine told me about Demodex Mites. It seems that most people have little subdermal mites. When they get too active, the stimulate our pores to make more and more oil. There are these great creams at http://www.demodex.info that I have been using, and FINALLY my acne is going away

Being a former Accutane user myself, all I have to offer is this: If you want to decrease the intensity of the side effects try taking only 1 pill a day instead of two. That's what I did, because it was giving me severe backaches. It will dry out your skin, but some oil-free moisturizer should help with that. The biggest benefit Accutane gives is that it cuts down on really bad acne and can also prevent scarring.

Benza Clin

Do any of you use Benza Clin for your acne?
Because I have used it and it made my skin become red, itchy and it peels..
And how long till it fades? It's been about 2 days and it still red. Getting a little worried.

My skin has never been perfect but it's not severe either. When I was home for the summer, my skin looked great. But then I went back to school and we have hard water. Last year my skin and hair looked like death. So, this year I put a water filter in on the shower head (my landlord won't get a water softner) and rise my face with spring water from a jug. My skin still looks bad.
I'm not sure if it's the hard water (it's the only thing I can come up with) or what. I use cetipil (the one for senstive skin) and I think the oil in it might be causing me some problems? If that's not the case, is there anything out there for hard water and acne?
Thanks!
(Oh, I've seen a derm since the 8th grade and nothing really works for me- topical or pills)

LNL: Maybe you have an allergy? Or perhaps you're doing too much to your skin? I've found if I mess too much or use drying product my skin looks awful. On the other hand, if I use minimal product my skin is flawless (right now it's Shu Uemura oil cleanser in the AM and Bliss Sleeping Peel Cleansing cream at night, with a La Mer oil controlling moisturizer for day). If all else fails, it could just be hormonal - in which case it will just have to clear up on its own. If you don't mind me asking, are you on the pill?

Best of luck :flower:

That is completely normal with anything containing Benzoyl Peroxide. It should subside, but it aggrivates almost all skin types. It could get worse before it gets better.. :( . Talk to your derm.

hello everyone....so here is my skin story....(and sorry for my bad english i hope you'll understand everything....)
i had bad skin problems since is was 12 years old. at first it didn't bother me you know beeing a child and so on. than my mum went with me to a doctor which said it was just pubertal spots and did give me antibiotics and some cream. well i didn't really care and after some time didn't take that anymore. so more than one year ago i began really carying for my skin and tried everything from the market you can guess it didn't work. but thank god my uncle is doctor too so he gave me antiobiotiks which worked but you can't take them constantly and i also didn't want that.i did also began to drink at least 2,5 litres of water a day, eat healty and my skin really improved even if i did also go through rather bad times. now since april this year i am taking the birth control pill. i am not really happy about the hormones and so on but what should i do. since that my skin was more or less constantly good, but one week ago i had a total breakout becaue stupid me eatet soooooo much chocolate and in general total unhealty. so it seems that also eating good and so on matters much for my skin and i hope it gets good again and also stays good.
also from having had spots for so long i am extremly "obsessed" and every little blackhead makes me going "aaaah" *sigh*

I don;t know if this has been mentioned yet, but drinking milk can lead to zits. Milk contains hormones, especially whole milk, which is a major cause of acne. Dairy products such as cheese and ice cream contain these hormones as well. Try cutting dairy from your diet, or drinking organic milk, it has no hormones in it.

i've been having breakouts for the last few days due to exams...the stress, not drinking enough water (stupid thing abt going to the toilet all the time...), staying up late...eek! all i hope is that my skin gets better after these two weeks and it better!

I got the same advice, to stay away from dairy and it helped

really? no wonder my skin's all icky and stuff...cos when i was younger, my parents made me drink milk to supposedly help to grow taller. yet i didn't grow anywhere except sideways...
hmm...then i might keep away from milk and stuff. is soy milk ok though?

Most animal products contain added hormones so obviously if you have an imbalance in hormones it will *slightly* make it worse.

I am really really considering going on Roaccutane. Sigh.

FREEDERM

I asked a few weeks ago if anyone had tried freederm?? had no answrer so i thought id ask again! It has been advertised on the TV thats were i saw it, wondering if anyone had used it and had results??

I've never tried it myself. Though, having tried A LOT of products when I had acne, I'm pretty sure that this will depend on the type of acne you have, and how bad/stubborn the acne is.

This, will probably be fantastic for people with 'simple' acne, like Proactiv is. However, if you have very bad acne, it won't make much of a difference.

I know this from experience, lol, I tried every product under the sun - but my acne was really bad and I ended up going on Roaccuntane. If your acne isn't that bad then its worth a shot :flower:

If you do use it, tell us what you think :flower:

Drinking milk when you're younger is good for making your bones strong - I think the most important time for drinking milk is up to 17, as they are still growing, so its good they made you drink it

And yes, soya milk should be fine, as its from a plant, so there won't be an imbalance of hormones.
