any dairy products would cause acne. You might just cut back on it. Yeahh I can enjoy my soy milk without feeling bad:woot:

I've never tried it myself. Though, having tried A LOT of products when I had acne, I'm pretty sure that this will depend on the type of acne you have, and how bad/stubborn the acne is.

This, will probably be fantastic for people with 'simple' acne, like Proactiv is. However, if you have very bad acne, it won't make much of a difference.

I know this from experience, lol, I tried every product under the sun - but my acne was really bad and I ended up going on Roaccuntane. If your acne isn't that bad then its worth a shot :flower:

If you do use it, tell us what you think :flower:

Thanks for the advice!

My skin has never been perfect but it's not severe either. When I was home for the summer, my skin looked great. But then I went back to school and we have hard water. Last year my skin and hair looked like death. So, this year I put a water filter in on the shower head (my landlord won't get a water softner) and rise my face with spring water from a jug. My skin still looks bad.
I'm not sure if it's the hard water (it's the only thing I can come up with) or what. I use cetipil (the one for senstive skin) and I think the oil in it might be causing me some problems? If that's not the case, is there anything out there for hard water and acne?
Thanks!
(Oh, I've seen a derm since the 8th grade and nothing really works for me- topical or pills)

I used Cetaphil, and it didn't help at all. I have very sensitive skin. I now use a soap I found at my pharmacy called "Acne-Aid." You buy it over the counter. It is for sensitive skin, and I swear to God it is the best thing I have ever found. I have even tried all that Pro-Active Solution stuff, etc...
Anyways, Acne-Aid cleared my skin right up, and it has been consistently clear for a year now.
I can't remember which pharmaceutical company manufactures Acne-Aid, but I am sure you could Google it. I bought four extra bars of it since it is the only thing that works. And it's only $3.50 per bar.

you guys are welcome! I was typing it out for myself a printed list anyways (to carry with me in my wallet^_^ ). I have started doing this more and more.. like I'm restricting my diet more I ate pretty good before but these foods should help my skin:wink:

Wow, that's quite a list. About a year ago when I had really bad acne, I cut out most sugar products and fried food and I lost a lot of weight quite quickly in the process, which was bad because then I looked gaunt and pimply! Lol. But if you feel that changing your diet works for you and doesn't affect your health/weight in a bad way, then just go for it. :flower:

I like Neutrogena acne wash ... my acne is gone and now I'm left with Tiuu Kuik skin .... bliss!

i've been using handmade soaps with a little clay in them for about 2yrs and my skin has never looked better - just the occasional zit. the bars last FOREVER and never cost more than $6. i'll never go back to "cleanser" again!

go to acne.com for more info on how to banish acne

*ive also started using stridex power pads and they work great! ^_^ not noticible, didnt dry out my skin, pimples were gone after a week of usage, and it was packaged nicely

I have to recommend cutting off dairy. I've tried it for two weeks now, and it has helped so much already. When I started, I was wishing it wouldn't help so I wouldn't have to give up my lovely organic milk lattes, but now I have no choice  But it's definately a price I'm willing to pay for better skin...

i've been having breakouts for the last few days due to exams...the stress, not drinking enough water (stupid thing abt going to the toilet all the time...), staying up late...eek! all i hope is that my skin gets better after these two weeks and it better!

really? but i thought ppl bathed in milk for nice skin and stuff...

Well, as you grow older, these hormones are not as active in your body, so it is ok. And bathing in milk is far different than drinking it. Your skin cannot absorb hormones...or can it?

Hmm... I've been thinking about cutting out dairy, but when I think about it, the only food where I get it from is my every morning yoghurt. I have never drank milk, eaten cheese or anything. So would it still have any effect?

Maybe you should try and see if cutting out the yoghurt will have an effect. For example switch it to soy yoghurt for two weeks to see what happens. It's not too much of a sacrifice either, I find that soy yoghurt doesn't taste evry different from regular dairy stuff

I just bought Mario Badescu drying lotion after hearing about it for soo long and I have to say that it is really worth the money. I know how many people say that spot treatments don't work, but this product really shrinks the size of the pimple and takes away the redness too! I love it. I would definitley buy it again. It is great for times when the Proactiv (which I normally use) doesn't clear up spots fast enough.

I'm not saying this works for everyone, 'cause i believe there are many reasons for problem skin... some solved more easily than others-
I've had problem skin, very deep acne, since i was VERY young and i have tried pretty much everything there is. I've tried to cut different foods out of my diet, i've tried the products and the medication. First of all: antibiotics are not a good longterm solution to acne- it will damage your immune system, and you're tolerance might increase meaning you might need to use more or they might loose their effect. Some even cause discoloring of your teeth... I've also been on roaccutane- which i thought was great (while it lasted). My skin cleared up for the first time.. and i was sooo excited - but my acne came back (not quite as bad as before, but by now i was skin obsessed) within 2 years. 3 years ago a GP finally decided to put me on the pill (dianette) to see if the acne was caused by hormonal imbalance. After 3 months, and almost giving up, my skin has finally cleared up and stayed that way!! And all this time ive been thinking- why didnt anyone tell me about this earlier- it would have saved me a lot of worrying and money...
