The Acne Thread

Ugh, I'm in the mist of a bad breakout. I've been reading thru the thread and I'm gonna give cutting out dairy a try. I drink about a cup of milk and 1/2 cup of yogurt a day. It shouldn't be hard but hopefully it'll help.
Also, I went to the makeupalley.com forum and the 2 products that good reviews were: Clear Logix- Deep cleansing acne treatment pads and Zapzyt 10% BP acne treatment gel. Both can be found at Wal-Mart or drugstores. Just thought I'd pass that along. I'm going to get both today so I'll post a follow up!

tomorrow i'm going to buy some products for the skin from the pharmacy cause the girl in the ad is sooo pretty... wishfull thinking ^_^

but has anyone used vichy?

I diagnosed myself with open comdone acne on my forehead and inner cheeks at the age of 20. I used to have perfectly clear skin. They say just don't touch your skin, steam it and then wipe gently instead of harshly scrubbing....and then use benzoyl peroxide on specific problem areas. Well I can't find anybody who sells BP in new zealand so i'm settling for garnier pure spot stick on the fourth day of not picking at my spots, drinking lots of water and cutting down on the cheese..a little...

Still very frustrating. It has been suggested that I have a hormonal problem but I don't want to waste the doctor's time.

And I think its obvious here that there isn't one way to clear acne. I know people who eat mostly dairy and have perfect skin, people who don't drink that much water etc...of course its always nice to try new things

i'm on a makeup board, and a lot of people have been having good results using all natural apple cider vinegar.

you can get it at trader joes or whole foods or stores like that. you can dilute it with water depending on how sensitive your skin is. you get red for a minute or so, but it calms down. and the vapors make your eyes water. lol.
so if you can tolerate the smell, try it out. i was using it, but my bf is very sensitive to smells, so i had to stop using it.

so do you use it as a astringent or just like once a day or what?

Oh yes and I've been using tea tree oil (actually found it at walmart which was much cheaper than whole foods) on spot that come up and now my skin is getting so nice! The only thing is it really dries your skin out if you use it too much so like start at just once a day and do that for a few weeks or so and then if you need to step it up a little. Oh but I must add that the smell is quite strong and might make your eyes water but it does go away after a bit:wink:

Ice Wash?? Hmm I never heard of that from Clearasil I'll have to check that out and the drug store =) I'm only using the Neutrogena Deep Cleansing one and it is alright I guess...My skin feels really tingly and clean after using it. But I still have a bit of pimples on the side on my face (near my hair)

Cleans pores, makes skin soft, diminishes blemishes. Love it.

Makes skin clean and radiant.

Both these really improve skin's appearance. I highly recommend them.

tea tree oil has worked wonders for me...along with aloe vera gel. 8 months ago, my skin was soo bad..the only things I've been using have been black soap, aloe vera gel, and tea tree oil. Occasional I put on a queen helen face mask... but I  tea tree n aloe =)

I use to use aloe vera too, and was thinking about using it again. What kind do you buy? I bought lily of the desert or something like that:huh:

heyy twilight fairy! thanks for yr recommendations! will go check them out asap...any rough idea how much they cost? :D

I've used Lily of the Desert too, bonchic, as of now, I have JASON Organics tea tree/aloe vera gel and a big bottle of the Trader Joe's brand..I've also used Nature's Life.

benzoyl peroxide 2.5% works for me - it doesn't really matter what brand but I use Neutrogena on-the-spot acne treatment. i have moderate acne and this really cleared mine up quick

i do something really illegal twice a week but it works.... i have lots of white head buildups at least twice a week, but its not those who are like leading to big painful pimples.... they're just like normal whiteheads....

so what I do is I carefully extract them before going to sleep..... and make sure to wash my face with warm water twice afterwards..... and then put on my dermatologist prescriped cream all over my face...... ...massaging it so it penetrates into pores..... and go to sleep....

I've had perfectly clear skin ever since..... :flower:
