The Acne Thread

you guys are scaring me with the facial stories. i have an appointment in less than a week for a teenage facial. where they anaylze your skin, use the right products for it, exfoliate, empty the pores, and then rejuvinate. i have heard from many people in the past that doing these teen facials dramatically helps b/c it empties the pores of what turns into pimples. im scared now though!! i have enough random breakouts already!! :(
I had one done when I was a teen, I really think you'll be fine dear! The only reason I'd see a problem is if you have really sensitive skin. Even then, tell them (but they'll probably ask) and they should use more sensitive products.
My personal belief is that facials can cause such damage if you have very sensitive skin and the products they use have a lot of oil in them. Also, if you get them done all the time and abuse you're skin. :flower: Let us know how it goes!

when my skin is stressed i eat alot of watermelon and use l'oreal deep exfoliating gel wash-it works wonders and i would really reccomend it

My skin was doing great and then everything went to crap over new years. The dermotologist just wrote me a prescription for something new called Finacea. Anyone have any info about it?

Ok guys, I posted this before but the problem is still bothering me. I have a pimple on my face near my cheeks. I have had this clogged pore since August when I used the Tweezerman extractor to take it out. However, I think it caused it to go deeper in my skin. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

You could always go to the dermotologist! I know I sound like I'm addicted to going, but when I have problem pimples, he just injects them and they go away within 24-48 hours.

Good luck!

Someone help me...permanent pimples!

I don't know why this is happening to me now. I've had otherwise flawless skin my whole life and now I'm experiencing this weird phenomenon where I have permanent pimples. I have a pimple for a couple of days, it goes down slightly but then there's this mark, like a baby pimple that stays on my skin. It's annoying cause I don't know what causes it. Has anyone else experienced this?

It could be cystic acne. I get that sometimes...where the pimple is deep down in the skin and doesn't come to a head.

In any event, if it is uncomfortable or worries you a lot, you should go to a doctor and get a referral to a dermatologist. A dermatologist can diagnose the problem and set you on a course for treating it. It may be something so simple as a change in face-soap, or there may be medication or other treatments involved.

I have this problem too and it sounds like cystic acne. I got rid of mine by cutting sugar completely from my diet for about 5 weeks, and eating lots of vegetables and fruit, and drinking heeaps of water. Mario Badescu also has a fantastic product called Buffering Lotion specifically made for cystic acne, it worked well for me. www.mariobadescu.com

I just got prescribed this antibiotic by the doctor called 'Doxycycline'..i was just wondering if any one has heard of it and whether it is any good? My skin is really bugging me...ive tried everything from proactive to zinc suppliments and am just sick of trying. The only thing i havnt gone through is extreme solutions like antibiotics, the pill, or any other internal things as my skin isnt terrible just kinda bad. I would really appreciate the info from all you great people here!

hey farcio, i took doxycycline before. its quite gd! i took it for abt a one year course, and my derm told me tht my acne was quite bad too. it did clear up my acne and now im jus working on e bloody scars! grr. anyhow, do give doxycycline a shot and see how it works for u! even thou it does take some time for results to show...a month plus...it does not hav any scary side effects like Roaccutane(sp?) has. all the best! :D

Oh my gosh, that's what happened to me! Like same thing! My skin was pretty much flawless, except for a blemish here and there, but then all of a sudden my forehead had a pimple, then the next day two more, and they went down, but I still had the red marks where they were. Then I had really small pimples kind of near that marks.

Heh my mom told me it was because I was eating "too much sugar" and I was like "Mom, you don't have skin problems because of sugar", so she told me to do that... and to think I disbelieved her...

i'm taking doxycycline (adoxa). it cleared up my moderate acne in a month or something in combo with Tazorac creme and benzaclin.

where do you buy the real black soap?

So this is something that can be treated?

Of course! This was an ongoing problem for me for quite a few years and did not go away until I changed my diet and started to be healthier all round.
My doctor also told me it had a lot to do with my nervous system (I'm a stress head) sugar affects the nervous system and can make an already anxious person 10 times worse causing skin conditions such as psoriasis (which I also suffer) and skin cysts. I also drinks heaps of green tea and water, and try to eat fish at least 4 times a week. Have you consulted a doctor or naturopath? Probably a good Idea it saved my skin..... Good luck and be patient, it takes time for this problem to go away, but believe me it IS treatable! Good luck! :flower:

Okay, I'm positive this isn't acne as I used to know the name of it before, but I forgot. A few of my friends have it too, so I know it isn't rare. I'm 15, by the way.
Anyway, I have these weird, pin-point sized pimply things on my shoulders. Like, not my shoulders but the outer area between your shoulder and elbow. Does anyone know how to cure these?
I remember reading that they just go away by themselves as you reach adolescence... but I'm thinking maybe there are cures for it somewhere.
I also have horrible acne on my back. It's so weird, as my face is pretty clear (well lately it's gotten a bit stubborn, but yeah) and my back is... eurgh. Any advice?
Thanks~!

Hi Serenade! Those bumps on your arms could be clogged hair folicles, and I have heard a lot of people having them. I wish I knew the cream that they use, but a Dermotologist will know what to do.
For your back, Clinique has a spray that you use for acne on your back. I work at the same counter with Clinique, and they sell it all the time...so it must be good, plus it's a spray so it's easy to hit the right spot on your back.:D

serenade
do you mean psoriasis? I had the same thing on my arms and after using http://www.phisoderm.com/body.asp on my arms the skin has softened and is much better. I've read that using aloe vera gel (at least 20% pure aloe vera) for 8 months it can improve it alot:wink: Also alpha hydroxy (not both aloe and alpha hydroxy) can help. Hope that's what you were talking about, good luck:flower:

Those darn big, nasty pimples!

Don't you hate them? I have a winter formal on Friday and I just got 2 of those on my forehead yuck! I was planning to wear my bangs pinned back but i'm not so sure if I can do that anymore  UNLESS....somebody has any advice as to how to get rid or minimize to small little things as quick as possible? Right now I use salycilic acid with neosporin at night and it doesn't seem to do anything for those big ones...ugh! any advice would be greatttllyyy appreciated

Gets some raw, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar, soak a cotton ball, and then hold it on your pimples. The ACV is an antiseptic and will destroy them! It smells terrible, though:shock: .
