Thanks a lot Eurofashionjunki! Does the treatment hurt?

Yes a little bit, kinda like someone is pinching your skin (treatment about 30 seconds to 1 minute) and you don't have to stay home afterwards unless you are vain about it. Your face will be blotchy afterwards.

I've been (for like 2-3 days) a little bit of tea tree oil on my cotton pad before I put my regular toner on it (origins united state tonic) to sort of treat my face but gently because tea tree oil can mess up (dry, irritate) your face if you don't dilute it or use it sparingly. It's working really good this way:flower:

Right now I'm using Murad products and this product has been great for preventing pimples but the problem is it does not work to well to get rid of acne marks. Do you guys recomend anything to get rid of those marks?

Microdermoabrasion or chemical peel worked for me......but I am still not satisfied, but I have huuuuge criteria when it comes to the skin!!!

I've been wondering about chemical peels. I'm not considering them at the moment, I'm 15 so... I dunno. Are they painful? That's about all I care about if it really works.

I was going to ask the same question. It seems like it would be painful. I was reading about it and they showed a ladys face and she was all red and she looked like she was in pain.

Depends what kind of acid your derm uses........My derm's been using very mild ones, and it doesnt hurt at all.....But you need ages to get rid of the scars, although the red spots can fade after 6 treatments. There are also very strong chemical peels, very painful and scary a bit, that I really wouldnt recomend to someone your age.
Maybe the best solution for you is microdermoabrasion.

my moisturiser had started to break me out around my jawline, so ive changed to loreal happy derm, and it seems to have calmed down. but i dont know how it will work long term, so can anyone reccomend a good moisturiser that wont make me break out?

For the first 15 years of my life, i had absolutely perfect skin. People would always ask me if I wore foundation or concealer and would never believe me when I told them I never did. But then around summer of last year, I started breaking out. It just started on my forehead, while the rest of my face stayed perfectly clear. But then around fall of this year, my forehead cleared up(but leaving acne marks) and my cheeks started breaking out. And until around a couple weeks ago, my cheeks cleared up(but also leaving acne marks) and I started breaking out on my forehead again. My acne and marks aren't too bad, like it's not cystic(?), but it's still there nonetheless. This has really taken a huge toll on my self-esteem because I could never imagine leaving the house without a full face of makeup and I feel really uncomfortable and self-conscious whenever anybody looks at me.

Maybe I'll post pictures later.

But I was just wondering what product/treatments anybody would recommend?
Or could this just be hormones/puberty? But I've already went through everything else with puberty when I was like 13(growing boobs, hair, period, etc.)

^ try acne.org..the regimen is good to get rid of active acne, and the message boards are very helpful.

Anyone have recommendations for products/regimens to help with redmarks?? I rarely breakout anymore, but have redmarks on one cheek and on my nose. The pores are also enlarged on cheeks and nose, although around my face and my forehead/chin are silky smooth! I'm really self consious about my skin though, and need help with redmarks!

Umm, I put Witch Hazel (The distilled watery kind) on a cotton pad and wipe my face with it after moisturising (then massage the witch hazel into the skin). It's an astringent so it reduces blood flow to the skin surface and makes your face look less red (if that's what you mean by red marks)

^I'll try that..what I mean by redmarks though is it looks like I still have acne, but I haven't broken out in such a long time. I used to always itch my pimples (eww yuck) and now they left marks :(

Oh I don't know about those, I thought you meant that you had uneven skintone/a ruddy complexion :( But try it anyway, Witch Hazel (just the chemist type, nothing fancy) is dirt cheap, so if it doesn't work, it won't break the bank (plus you can use it to water down face masks/muds instead of water - better result)

You can have rad marks long time after you had your last pimple, especially if your skin is dark or you have a lot of pigment, I had my last pimple at the end of the last year, and still have some dark spots on my face. Try some peel creams, chemical peel or microdermoabrasion, it all depends of the colour of your skin, your age....etc.

Ok my doctor switched my bc from ortho-cyclin to ortho try-cyclin because she felt that might be a cause of my acne. She thinks the former bc was too strong....I'm not sure about this. I thought if you change birth control, you change to a stronger dosage.

I recently read the book Unblemished by Dr.s Rodan and Fields, makers of Proactiv. At first I was a little skeptical and expected it to be a big long marketing strategy to prove Proactiv....luckily I was wrong!! While the book does outline the benefits of Proactiv and the other Rodan and Fields line, the good Dr.s also outline strategies for fighting acne with other over the counter products. They also have chapters directed towards specific age groups, sexes, and ethnic groups which is great for treating specific populations and really helps cut down the reading since I didn't have much need to read the post-menopausal women's chapter or the teenage boy chapter.....
There is also a chapter which talks about makeup and gives some good reccomendations about what to look for in cosemetics.

Great read! For sure worth a look if you want to try over the counter products

I'm absolutely not an expert, but maybe the try cyclin was producing TOO many hormones. When I was a Freshman in college, I had to switch as well.

Ok, well I just wondered. I"m no expert myself. I never thought it could be the other way....my meds producing too much hormones, you're right. Thanks a lot!

Have you tried any products that contain glycolic acid?

I. too, had red marks and found Neostrata Oil free daytime smoothing lotion with 8% glycolic acid worked extremely well.

I think you should be able to find something within the Neostata line that will address your concern. :flower:
