The Acne Thread

my skin broke out incredibly bad when i was in tokyo, some sort of allergic reaction due to the weather i presume. as soon as i came back to the US it started to clear up. i still had some bumps that were taking their sweet time to dissapear on the sides of my forehead, when someone suggested i try 'differin gel' and gave me a sample. next morning, BAM! theyre GONE.

so yeah, that was great. i very much suggest this brand.

so birth control can produce too many hormones?
b/c...my pmsing has been going on loooonger than a week and im worried.
can birth control do this?!

hi, i sympathise with you all, and i used to have really bad acne. Try dermalogica's acne prone skin kit! it reaalllly helps, and their skin refining mask is also very good!

ooh also, if you wear make-up then dermalogica's treatment foundation is very good, it is non comodogenic so it doesn't block pores and is available in a variety of shades.
One of the best things i've tried for spots is Dr.Brandts' poreless skin cream, i only had a sample because it is so expensive, but it worked wonders! i highly reccomend it. www.hqhair.com is very good for dermalogica products. good luck!

QUESTION!:
My derm put me on Cetaphil and Ery (Erythromycin) Pads in the morning, and then asked me to use Cetaphil, retin-A micro, and a bleaching cream on my dark spots at night. He says that my skin is going to get loads worse before it gets better. I just wanted to know how long it took Retin-A micro to clear up your complexion seeing as I don't want to walk around looking like a giant zit for the next four weeks.

proactiv and darphin's neroli oil, two very different treatments, both worked well for my mild-moderate acne. but i think eating well has made the most difference in my skin.

OTC didn't make a difference for me, plus it caused bloating/slight weight gain so i went off.

I need advice but the quick one!! I have a friend in Miami who is coming home in two days, so I have to tell him to bring me something, and have no time for some deeper research. I was thinking something anti-blemish from Neutrogena, Neostrata or Origins? (since these are not available in my country)
Neutrogena advanced solution acne mark fading peel
Neostrata oil free day time smoothing lotion with glycolic acid
Origins spot remover
Has onyone here tried it before and which one is recomended like the best one?
What are the prices? I can't order something very expencive,it is not polite!!
Thanks a lot!!

Not sure if this has already been discussed - but has anyone tried the Zeno? Did it work for them, or was it a waste of money? I've been thinking of buying it for a few months now, but here in Canada it's over $300, so I'm hoping for some reviews? Thanks!

As well, in response to aya80, I'd recommend the glycolic stuff from Neostrata - I'veheard it works well from friends..

Any answers to my Retin-A Micro question guys?! I'm really freaking out here.

Side effects are different for everyone so they can last 1 day for you and 20 days for a person on the same dosage of a medicine so it would be hard for someone to give you a real answer. However, if you go on acne.org, under their medications section they have reviews for Retin-A which may give you somewhat of an idea of what to expect while on the medicine. Hope this helps :flower:

My only tip for using Retin A is to find a good moisturizer! I bought a large bottle of Cetaphil for about $10 and it really helped.

About your skin getting worse before it gets better... what happened with me was that things stayed about the same for about 3 weeks, but finally it seems to be clearing up and I'm getting fewer breakouts.

I know this isn't too specific, but I hope it helps

well i had god awful acne, the deep BIG kind that dont even surface, and i used this product form www.skintactix.com, and i cleared up 100%, it even kept working after i stopped using it-it kept working for me lke 6 months after. Now what i have left are my "craters" or "pockmarks" whatever theyre called. So im using this stuff from a drugstore from a company called University Medical- and ive seen a huge improvement on the depth of my "craters", the size, and its lightened whatever little red marks i had leftover...

oooh, and by the way, if i use those sunless tanner products, will it help diminish the appearance of my hyperpigmentation marks from my acne, or will it make them more noticeable, you know, like one big, dark orange spot?

Has anyone tried the Aztec Secret/Indian Healing clay mask? I've heard good things so I picked some up, just wondering if anyone can vouch for it here.

I was going to ask the same question. It seems like it would be painful. I was reading about it and they showed a ladys face and she was all red and she looked like she was in pain.

Some of you may recall from my previous posts my acne struggles. I feel like I've been on every possible combination of topical creme and antibiotics from the dermatologist. Recently, he told me to stop using everything and put me on a regimine of glycolic acid products and a peel every two weeks. The results have been really amazing.

I believe that the name of the product is Glytone. Anyways, the peel (done in his office) is very mild and didn't cause any redness or actual peeling. My skin is clear and my scars/dark spots are fading.

This thread is extremely long and full of fantastic information it's just I am sooo lazy to scroll through and find the info I'm looking for. So, I was just wondering, does anyone have any knowledge/feedback/complaints on Doxycycline the antibiotic? I have been on it for about 3 months and have seen dramatic improvement but additionally I have been using Alpha H active skin set....So I am not sure which product is giving me results:unsure: . So I would love to hear from you all! Thankyou! :flower:

I'm on it right now (have been for about 2 weeks) and haven't seen many improvements. It's probably just your cleanser or a combination of the two.^_^
